Acerca de esta escucha

That’s the flummoxed state of Edward Stanton, a 42-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome. His job, his therapist, and his best friends are all gone. Even his nightly ritual of watching Dragnet reruns has short-circuited.

But a call from his friend Donna in Idaho, telling him that her son Kyle is in trouble, launches Edward from his rigidly scheduled existence in Billings, Montana, to the open road. He and Kyle, a sweet little boy turned sullen adolescent, debate football, music, and bodily functions (“Why do you pee so much?” Kyle asks). All the while, inspired by dreams of the past, Edward tries to make peace with his life - and when he meets an eccentric motel owner, perhaps open it to love.

Not quite as gripping as "600 hours"

I found this interesting but not as compelling as the first book. There was FAR to much of the "Edwardisms" that we're clever in the first book and far less development of new characters.

It's a " have to hear" if you've heard and appreciated 600 hours, but I suggest holding expectations down. Luke Daniels got a bit campy with some if the narration I thought.

Still worth the credit just to hear the final outcome of Edwards story.

Laughing Out Loud Funny

Edward is a 40 year-old with Asperger's. He is high functioning, and has high self esteem. The compulsive traits of his Asperger's comes through and it's hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing. There's a coming of age story within the story. Not sentimental. Great Book.

A Winner

Loved the first book, 600 Hours of Edward, and didn't wait to purchase the next in the series. Well written by Craig Lancaster and wonderfully narrated by Luke Daniels, it kept me fascinated from first to last. I love the character development of Edward as the years have passed since the end of the first book. And now I am on to the third book in the series.

I'm definitely on Team Edward

This book was the sequel to 600 Hours of Edward, a book I greatly enjoyed. I didn't think it'd be possible to like this one as much. I was surprised to find I loved it even more. Edward, who is autistic (Asperger's?) grew so much and learned how to deal with whatever life threw at him. Sadly, I don't know that Edward is going to be a series, but I wish it was. It was hard for me to tell him goodbye! Book boyfriend!

Exceptional

A book that engages completely. A non-normative mental processing style in a protagonist who is truly likeable despite tendencies that I would normally think of as frustrating. It helped me see people with Edward's processing style in a new light - really, to see that my thought process is really almost the same, it just seems different on the surface. A heartwarming story with rich, believable characters - and frequent moments that made me smile, laugh, or rethink. Great narrator as well.

I love Edward.

I enjoyed this story as much as 600 Hours of Edward. Maybe even more because he finally found his happy. The only downside is there isn't another book coming but I look forward to reading more from this author.

A nice followup to 600 Hours of Edward"

If you could sum up Edward Adrift in three words, what would they be?

Found his voice

What did you like best about this story?

That Edward has grown emotionally and is less stunted.

Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?

Edward

If you could take any character from Edward Adrift out to dinner, who would it be and why?

To be honest, the narrator.

Any additional comments?

The author has overused the "I love the word ____" mechanism this time. While it was endearing in the first book, it was used to distraction in this volume. To have him say it over and over in the course of a few minutes was annoying (and in my opinion) unnecessary.

Good but not the best

I loved 600 Hours of Edward. One of my all time favorites. This one was good but it just didn’t endure me the same. But I guess you can’t beat that first discovery of a new friend.

Perfect follow up with a much better ending!

I fell in love with Edward in 600 Hours of Edward, but the ending was a dud. Edward Adrift is so much more enthusiastic and you can't help but fall in love even more with his character. The ending of this book is promising and happy. You can't help but smile as the story comes to a close!
As for the narrator, I will be searching for more audio books that he has done. He really nails all of the characters emotions. You can just feel how Edward is progressing and changing by the narrators voice.
