Written by ChatGPT, it seems.

Sure, it’s nice to be reminded to conserve water, and to unplug appliances when not in use, but… I’d rather hoped for a useful guide on moving to Mexico. This is five pages expanded to short book form, well short on specifics. Paid less than $5, worth about $1.29.

Best to skip this "bundle".
Revisado: 03-19-24
Thought I'd absolutely SCORED with this two-title bundle, great topics worthy of deep exploration. Instead, I got a watered-down ChatGPT-like treatise on how not to be a jerk, and how to appear more open to others. In fact, I can best summarize these books quite succinctly: Attract/Flirt: don't be a jerk, make eye contact, don't order her food for her. If you accomplish these things, you should find yourself comfortably in the friend-zone. Charisma Guide: don't fold your arms in front of you, listen, summarize and repeat back thoughtfully, make eye contact, but not for more than five seconds at a go.
There, I've just saved you $15 (or a credit). While I won't get my credit back, I also won't get my nine hours back. Not sure which is worse. At least the (two) narrators were quality.

Historia
The January 6th attack is an unprecedented crime in American history. Sprawling and openly political, it can't be handled by the traditional rules and norms of law enforcement—threatening the very idea of justice and its role in society. A mass of online tipsters—"sedition hunters"—have mobilized, simultaneously providing the FBI with valuable intelligence. In this work of extraordinary reportage, Ryan Reilly gets to know would-be revolutionaries, obsessive online sleuths, and FBI agents, and shines a light on a justice system that's straining to maintain order in our polarized country.

A solid overview of J6 investigations.
Revisado: 11-01-23
Not a perfect book, especially if you were expecting primarily an examination of “citizen investigators” and their methods, but a solid overview of their efforts, plus coverage of the conservative vs. MAGA divide within the FBI, and the impacts on J6 participants and their loved ones. As a book reader, Reilly impressed me by doing multiple voices (as required by the text), as well as “singing” to approximate an awkward MAGA performer. Only quibble as a narrator? “Lindbergh” becomes “Limbog” (Rush Limbaugh?) in this narration. You might think an editor with skill would’ve caught that before finalizing. That aside, a compelling look inside investigative efforts not broadly available.

Historia
A groundbreaking investigation into the digital underworld, where far-right operatives wage wars against mainstream America, from a masterful trio of experts in media and tech. A political thriller with the substance of a rigorous history, Meme Wars is the astonishing story of how extremists are yanking our culture and politics to the right. And it’s a warning that if we fail to recognize these powerful undercurrents, the great meme war for the soul of America will soon be won.

A comprehensive retracing of the last decade of players and ideas behind political and cultural meme wars. If you’re hoping for strategies to defeat the toxic elements of the culture, this isn’t the book to diagnose and repair the culture. It serves as a timeline, covering the evolution of right and hard-right movements from early liberal “Occupy” foundations. More history than theory, it helps fill in the blanks in coverage, but offers no solutions. File between “LikeWar” and “Mindf*ck” on your political theory and disinformation shelf.
