Historia
Once upon a time, they taught us to believe. They were the 1980 US Olympic hockey team, a blue-collar bunch led by an unconventional coach, and they engineered perhaps the greatest sports moment of the 20th century. Their "Miracle on Ice" has become a national fairy tale, but the real Cinderella story is even more remarkable. It is a legacy of hope, hard work, and homegrown triumph. It is a chronicle of everyday heroes who just wanted to play hockey happily ever after.

I loved this!

This book was so engaging. I listened to the first 2 hours while on a very long, late night drive and it kept me awake and engaged. Heyborne does a wonderful job narrating and Coffey wrote an amazing book. I enjoyed the layout, and liked getting to know the players one by one, both on and off the ice, and before and after the big game. A must listen for any USA Hockey fan!

Such Beautiful Writing, Such Terrible Characters

Hahaha
Revisado: 01-25-20
Narration is nice, but the story is so unbelievable it's laughable. There are parts that could shine if they were expanded on. I felt like all the interesting parts of the story were cut in favor of learning the magic, which really didn't differ much from generation to generation. I found myself laughing out loud at parts that were not mean to be humorous. I didn't finish and I'm not inclined to. Once I got into the "Book of Veronica", I knew from the previous books how the story would end. It felt very much like we were rushing to get to WWII, but needed all the history for some reason. And somehow, every other woman in the line neglected to recognize other wars happening around her. Writing is predictable and it's like reading the same story over and over again with a slightly different setting. Won't be listening again, and would not recommend.

I wanted to know the ending, otherwise I wouldn't have finished. The story was unbelievable and dragged on too long. Major plot points were resolved much too quickly to be realistic, while others dragged on longer than needed. The narration felt stuffy. I won't be listening to the author or narrator again.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

loved this book!

I loved this book and narration. It tackled many hard issues without being contrite, or forced. A great look at sport and a small town, and the humanity that exists within both.
