Historia
The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.

Gave up with 11 hours to go. Felt myself thinking of all kinds of things, except the words. The thought of many more hours of slow, depressing stories, was more than I could take. Sorry.

Historia
After the death of her grandmother, reluctant heiress Madilyn Marak agrees to stay with her grandfather at the estate for the summer. There, she finds an old diary hidden in an antique desk in the attic—The Apple Diary—written by her great-grandmother Isabel. In there, she finds the love story of Isabel and Lorah, along with a photograph of the two young women from 1933. The diary, like the love affair, was short and brief, but rich and vivid enough for her to feel a true bond with the women despite the heartbreaking ending.

Refreshing characters and subject matter

I liked reading about a healthy, loving relationship, between two women. I cringed a bit every time Madeline’s voice became that of a 15 year old girl, when she was with Dillon. That really spoiled it for me. Wasn’t she 36? Still, I would recommend!

At 70, my time is being spent with what interests me. I have no desire to force myself to prod forward, on the hopes of it getting better. Moving on.

Revisado: 11-06-23
I’ve read many of the Reacher series and have really loved them. I was hooked from the first chapter. Action packed, finding someone to help out, just being Reacher. I hardly knew what I was reading with this one. Meh

Questioned each character from the start. None of them made me feel warm and fuzzy at all.
Revisado: 12-27-22
Although I knew how all the characters must be intertwined, I wish I could have liked even one of them. All were cold, unfeeling and a bit on edge at all times. Unrealistic reactions to situations. Was anxious to be done with this one.

Many problems in my opinion.
Revisado: 04-21-22
Narrator turned me off right off the bat. The 3rd year Attorney, sounded like she was 18, through the book. Her little home life, unrealistic. Main characters reactions to kidnapping of their child, suicide of a brother were totally unreal. Not sure who gets a cut for the Cross-Fit plugs. Annoying!!

Barbara Holloway is a trial lawyer who tends to take on difficult cases, but this time it seems there's no defense at all. Impressed! First time reader!
Revisado: 03-17-22
Enjoyed the story, especially the setting being in somewhere other than the big cities! The characters were interesting (except the boyfriend...he may as well been out of the picture)...but overall, a good listen. My audio book, repeated the first two or three sentences of every 45 minutes or so, which was very annoying. For that I dropped the overall, a star.
