Enjoyed this story very much, interesting family. Will probably listen to it again. Would have liked more specifics on more events. And an easier to follow time-line.

Revisado: 11-10-24
I normally do not enjoy factual/serious oriented podcasts with two hosts, especially those that are friends. One person is usually the clown and neither are educated in the subject, more like hobbyists. These two are NOT that. Both come from the medical field. They treat each history with the right balance, so that you are informed and entertained, without feeling like you are listening to a comedy team. Warning- they do excellent research and give information & details that can be uncomfortable to listen to. I have passed on a couple of episodes that I knew would be too difficult for me.

I enjoyed hearing about the stories of how the various movies were made. I disagree with the overall idea that 1999 was the best movie year ever.

Historia
By early 1977, New York City was in the grip of hysteria caused by a murderer dubbed "Son of Sam". And on a sweltering night in July, a citywide power outage touched off an orgy of looting and arson that led to the largest mass arrest in the city's history. As the turbulent year wore on, the city became absorbed in two epic battles: the fight between Yankee slugger Reggie Jackson and team manager Billy Martin, and the battle between Ed Koch and Mario Cuomo for the city's mayoralty.

Narration was good. The book was structured well between everything going on in the city that year. The transitions between each event were easy to follow. Really captured the behind the scenes stuff well.
