Romance Book 🤢
Revisado: 02-24-24
Here is a summary of the book. Sorry for the spoilers.
Female - “I have strange magical powers and am a strong woman, but not too strong because a man must save me. Wait! There’s a man who is dark and brooding that I’m supposed to hate. I bet if he kisses me I will loose all my senses and be unable to control myself around him.
Male - “I have a dark mysterious past and am handsome. I must find an unnaturally beautiful strong (but not too strong), woman to save. I bet she’ll hate me at first but I will overcome her senses with my manly charm and the power of my kiss.”
I hated it 🤮

After listening to this book, I bought a classroom set for my 4th grade class. They love it! There is a lot of word play that my students find hilarious. I've read this with 160 9 and 10 year olds and they all give it a very enthusiastic two thumbs up!

Yet another story glorifying sexual assault 😡
Revisado: 07-18-23
I can’t tell you how much I absolutely hated this book. This book has so many high reviews that I really thought I was going to read something well written. In case you’re wondering, it’s not well written.
The main character’s, personality changes so often that you have no idea who she really is. One minute she’s fighting for justice, standing up for the little guy; the next minute she’s a whiny selfish child. She makes absolutely disgusting decisions, but it’s okay because she feels really bad about it.
If you take any cues from this book, you’re going to come away, thinking that no means yes and that sexual violence equals passion and even love. When are authors going to write a truly strong female character? This is another book that demeans women and shows us that all a girl wants is to be ravaged by a dominant male. It is the worst kind of story.
As for the performance, it was okay. It was whiny and I had to speed it up.

Listening to this book was really painful and not because the subject matter was so heavy. I sped it up to 1.5 and bought the book.

Awful
Revisado: 05-07-23
This audio book kept popping up in recommendations because I love the Cradle series and He Who Fights With Monsters. I just really hated it. I haven’t hated a book as much as this one in years. I can’t stand the narrator and eventually put it on 1.5 to finish it. The bad language is completely unnecessary, and it was sooooooo boring. I really tried to like any of the characters, but there really isn’t anything to like about them. I powered through and finished it but was really disappointed that the main character survived. I wouldn’t have been heart broken if he would have tripped and impaled himself on his very large axe.

Worthy Subject but…
Revisado: 01-15-23
I really wanted to love this book, but it was difficult to get through the wooden dialogue and cliches. The narration is extremely slow, until I upped the speed to 1.5. The subject was interesting and did leave me wondering how much of it was true. I understand why people loved it; I wasn’t one of them.

I stopped listening to it due to language
Revisado: 01-06-23
I wish someone would have warned me. I stopped listening to it because the author only knows one word to describe surprise, distress, horror… whatever. It said it was appropriate for teens. I disagree. If language doesn’t bother you give it a try.

My Ears are bleeding!! :( :(
Revisado: 06-28-21
I read this book a long time ago and was so excited when I ran across it in audible… My excitement didn’t last. Just imagine a person falling to their knees with their hands clamped tightly over their ears screaming “Why?!”
That’s how I feel about this narration. Wasn’t there anyone that had time to listen to it before they sent this horror into the world to assault unsuspecting listeners? I bought the second one too, needless to say, I will be returning it.

Coyote and Rodeo are beautiful characters. I loved the story. I wanted to hug them all, including Gladys the goat!
Four stars because of the language and the narrator made every character sound like they were from the South.
