One of the better books in the series in my opinion. The plot was concise with plenty of action, and even some new details about how the Nids work.

Historia
Commissar Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan 597th are in the thick of it again, putting down an uprising of Chaos cultists on an Imperial mining world. Though their mission is a success, they find evidence that the corruption might have spread to other planets and that the forge world of Ironfound could now be at risk. The munitions Ironfound produces are vital to the Imperial war effort in the subsector; its safety must be assured at all costs. As battle explodes across the planet, Ciaphas Cain and his regiment come up against allies and enemies old and new in their fight for victory.

I really enjoyed the story, and my only gripe was that I would have liked the ending to have been a little more robust.

A bit hard to follow
Revisado: 04-27-24
This book was fantastic in the first half, but jumped around so much in the second that I couldn’t keep track of who Cain was worried about at the moment. I think it’s failing was being overly ambitious to include Nids, Necrons, and a full Cultist army all in one outing for the Commissar to tackle.

Best Ending in the 300 books I’ve read so far!
Revisado: 04-21-24
This book is a perfect introduction to Warhammer 40k for any of your friends that are interested in starting their reading. That being said, it is also a fantastic read for seasoned fans as well with plenty of fan service for multiple imperial factions. It also has the most rewarding ending that I have gotten in the last 300 books that I have read and/or listened to.

A well balanced novel
Revisado: 01-23-24
I have lost count of how many 40k books that I have read in the last 8 years. This book is now in my top 5 favorite reads of all time. It has a little something for almost every variation of 40k fan. My only complaint is that wasn’t a few chapters longer, and that Cawl was not more involved with the fighting. (I understand that is not part of his archetype) I would love to see these two duel it out across at least two more books.

The fantastic writing of Sandy Mitchell occupying the stellar performance from that voice actors makes this a must add to every Warhammer 40k reading pile of shame. Now I’ll just have to wait until my next credit so I can continue the exciting adventures of the Commissar and his motley crew of friends.

Better than most
Revisado: 08-26-23
I am just getting into Judge Dredd lore, and this collection was highly recommended. I have to saw that it was definitely worth it. The short stories are so good that it makes the collection seem twice as long as it really is. The Narrator had a fantastic Dredd voice, and was no slouch on the other voices as well.

Revisado: 01-10-23
I am a casual Dredd fan, and this is a perfect way to learn more of the lore of the mega city. It’s great for people who want a good sci-fi cop drama story, and with it broken up into 3 stories it’s easy to digest.
