Historia
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Historia
The violent slaughter of the Primrose family while they slept shocked the nation. Their young live-in chef, Bill Kareama, was swiftly charged with murder and brought to justice. But the brutal crime scarred the idyllic town of Cambridge forever. Seventeen years later, true-crime podcaster Sloane Abbott tracks down prison psychologist TK Phillips. Once a fierce campaigner for an appeal, TK now lives a quiet life with Bill's case firmly in his past. As Sloane lures a reluctant TK back into the fight, evidence emerges that casts new light on the Primroses—and who might have wanted them dead.

The sound effects were awesome
Revisado: 06-02-24
I didn't find the actual story all that impressive, but the Dolby Atmos audio was amazing. I would have liked a better signal when the characters changed. it was abrupt like telling the story of one person then jumping into the story of another without any sort of pause or change in chapters. It often left me confused about which character's version I was listening to.

It's been a long time since I found a book thst sucked me in like this one. Absolutely fantastic. The perfect blending of drama and suspense in rhythmic cadence to give a brilliant ending that was both happy, sad, and satisfying at the same time. Brilliance. I'll be following this author as soon as I submit this review.

absolutely phenomenal
Revisado: 01-21-24
This story was absolutely phenomenal! It's a slow burn. I'm a huge fan of crime and true crime and I only give reviews on books that either wow me, or are dismal flops. This book wowed me. I had figured out the real murderer about halfway through the book. But the ending still astounded me. The explanations and utter greed were sickening in the end. But that's what made it such a great story. It wasn't about figuring out who the real murderer was...that was evident. But the motivations are psychotic and terrifying. I enjoyed every minute.

Awful Narration
Revisado: 01-19-24
So I wouldn't have purchased this book. Just because of the title. but I've read a couple of this authors books and decided to give it a try. the story was quite interesting and I enjoyed the suspense factor. but the Narration of the character dialogue was awful! this is supposed to be a crime drama but the Narration is so bad I'm laughing out loud.

Historia
My little girl’s room is dark. Her bed is empty. I turn on her unicorn nightlight and bury my face in her pillow, my heart breaking. I know who did this. His name is Samuel Barlow. He has pale sallow skin and red-rimmed icy-blue eyes. But no one will listen. As darkness falls and rain lashes against the window, there’s a knock at my door and I open it to see those same eyes staring back at me. It’s his mother and she says she can help me find my daughter.

just wow
Revisado: 12-27-23
I found this a great story that had me on the edge of my seat. I read a lot of these types of stories and can usually piece together the broad strokes of the ending before I get there. But this book ended very unexpectedly. I liked the surprise of it. I also liked the many clues spread throughout starting with the beginning itself. I don't know if the author wrote the beginning first, or the ending first, but the cleaver weave of minor red flags throughout was brilliant.

Sickly Sweet
Revisado: 12-14-23
I was skeptical to try this audiobook because so many reviewers were disappointed with the ending. But as a big fan of true crime, I realize that not every tale has a perfect ending served wrapped up with a bow. This explores the flaws of Australia's Welfare system, much as the authors other books do. I enjoyed how the books main protagonist, Snow, slowly begins to show her terrifying psychopathy and her ability to rationalize that psychopathy. The ending is left up to the reader's ability to determine the fates of the characters. Great story, great performance. Five star review.
