Loved the previos book, this one not so much. I found the evangelizing jarring. I won't read more.

Historia
With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

I fell in love with this book all over again
Revisado: 09-20-23
Beautifully narrated by Rachel McAdams. Highly recommend this version. I laughed and cried in equal measures.
A big take away from this book I had not recognized previously was how Anne lives her life in gratitude. A beautiful example of how that can shape a life

Heart wrenching
Revisado: 09-21-22
I love Natasha Lester's books, but this was perhaps my favourite.
Beautifully written with characters so real you become invested in them.
This was very different to other books set in WW2 that I have read and it's made me curious to learn more about the service women of the time.
Beautifully narrated and highly recommended.

A delightful book of friendship
Revisado: 01-23-22
I struggled to get into the book in the first few chapters and then I started to love it.
At times it cut rather close to home, especially after the last 2 years of lockdowns and the accompanying anxiety of leaving the house.
I laughed and cried my way through this book. By the end I was rooting out loudly for Amy and wept big ugly tears through the final chapters.

Horrible narration.
Revisado: 01-13-21
The narration was so poor I battled to get into the story. It was too fast, no breaks, with one sentence running into the next - almost as if a robot was reading. I felt exhausted just listening and wanting to breathe for the narrator as she never seemed to get a gap.

These are the most delightful stories. This is the second one I've listened to and I giggled my way through it. So English and a lovely trip through the Cotswolds for those who know the area.
