Historia
Johannes Cabal, a brilliant scientist and notorious snob, is single-mindedly obsessed in heart and soul with raising the dead. Well, perhaps not soul.... He hastily sold his years ago in order to learn the laws of necromancy. But now, tormented by a dark secret, he travels to the fiery pits of Hell to retrieve it. Satan, who is incredibly bored these days, proposes a little wager: Johannes has one year to persuade 100 people to sign over their souls, or he will be damned forever.

Good read/listen
Revisado: 07-28-22
Long ago, Johannes made a deal with the Devil for his soul. But now he needs his soul back. Lacking of a soul is interfering with his life’s work.
However, Satan has a pretty strike no returns policy. And so Johannes makes a second deal to win back his soul. He must trade 100 souls for his 1.
Now, how to get 100 souls?? Satan’s got a plan!
This was a unique story. I liked the idea behind it. Intrigued enough to read more in the series.

Loved it!!
Revisado: 06-15-22
Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne did such a great job with this!! It was funny and goofy. A awkward tale of friendship and ruling a kingdom while not being the most liked Queen. The characters were wonderfully created and voiced by amazing actors. I would love more like this.

Shirley Jackson is such an iconic author. Her short stories always leave you with questions, wondering what’s going to happen. They can be long and heavily detailed, or short and sweet. With these short stories, you get to experience Shirley Jackson at her best.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

I seen the movie before I knew it was a book.. I loved Reese! The journey she takes is beyond amazing.. it’s funny and sad and at times you want to shake her! But in the end, she accomplished something she set out to do. She completed her quest! She pushed herself beyond her limits and comfort zone, and she survived. It’s a beautiful story of finding yourself. Of not looking to others for answers but looking within your self. And knowing you are stronger than you think.

Comfy Mystery
Revisado: 05-16-22
Need a cozy mystery to get you by? Well you’re in luck, because this is the perfect book! There’s a little suspense and some violence, but nothing to major. It’ll have you trying to figure it out the whole time.
I love the aspect of the old timey PI. He’s lingo and tactics are completely old school but it still fits with modern day sleuthing.
I would honestly love to see this as a series of sorts. It is such a cozy and comfy book that you just nestled right into your chair and get lost in the case. Keep your notes handy, and best of luck!!

Historia
When the biggest colony ship in human history was sent to settle a paradise world, an accident hurtled it deep into uncharted space. A thousand light years from Earth, with no way home and no way to call for help, the colonists’ only hope for survival was the one barely habitable planet in range, a nightmare world they named Croatoan. Landing on the only five mountain peaks tall enough to rise above the lethal acid clouds, the settlers carved a civilization from the rock.

Revisado: 05-03-22
Just picked this on a complete whim. Didn’t even read the description.
First off, loved the narrators voice! He really put the image of an old timer PI in my head. Too and long coat included.
The story was bizarre but good. Very sci-fi - I loved it! It’s a short listen but definitely helps pass the time. Is there any more of this guy? I’d love for this to be a series or something.. like a space Jack Reacher.

Horror Witchy Vibes
Revisado: 05-03-22
Loved this story!! A woman who performs small cunning’s is called “witch”, and of course the Puritans did not disappoint! Hellfire and brimstone! But what happens when the woman accused wasn’t a bad woman? What if she just stood up for herself and didn’t like men waking all over her?
If you’re wanting a story with some harsh realities and a little fiction thrown together, then this is an excellent read/listen. The author did a wonderful job in character building and places you in the times of tragedy.
You won’t be disappointed.

A lot to take in.
Revisado: 04-08-22
At times I felt like it was just droning on.. a lot of filler. But the storyline was cool. A bit much and a lot of back forth between past and present. I did love the description of the fights and gore.. much appreciated and made the story more tolerable. It just didn’t pull me in like some books do, but it wasn’t a terrible book.

So freaking good!
Revisado: 03-24-22
Three separate stories involving quarantine. Each story has an ending that’s very unexpected. Loved how all these were setup: the vastly different storylines, the characters. It was all done so perfectly.
The first: how exactly do you pull off a heist when everything is in lock down and you’re planning must be done via telecommunications?
The second: what happens when 2 estranged brothers get stuck together in their parents old house?
The third: accidentally spying on the neighbors isn’t a bad thing, is it?

Sisterhood at its finest.
Revisado: 03-23-22
What else are you supposed to do when your father passes away and your mother takes him back to Haiti to bury him? When you find out that your father had a lot more secrets than you realized?
The harsh realities we sometimes blind ourselves too always catch up with us eventually. We know our parents aren’t perfect. We know they have flaws. To know they aren’t what we thought they were, makes it hard to accept the things they’ve done. But it isn’t on us to carry that burden. It’s up to us to change it - change the cycle. And we have that freedom to do so.
