Brené Brown has spent the past two decades studying the emotions and experiences that give meaning to our lives, and the past seven years working with transformative leaders and teams spanning the globe. She found that leaders in organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial startups and family-owned businesses to nonprofits, civic organizations, and Fortune 50 companies all ask the same question: How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders, and how do you embed the value of courage in your culture? This audiobook answers this question.

Just when I think she’s written her best book...
Revisado: 12-11-18
... she comes up with another!
If you’ve never read any of her book, this is a great start; she has taken the findings of all her previous research and poured it in here.
If you have read them all, this book is a great addition; same truth, great new stories.
Brené does a great job at narrating. Please don’t ever stop narrating, Brené!!!!

I’m blown away. Each story in this book made my heart softer and softer. What an amazing treat to have Bob himself read this book to us. I laughed out loud and cried while driving and listening to Bob. People driving near me must have thought I was crazy. I don’t care. What a beautiful soul. Thank you for sharing these stories with us, Bob!

Many of us find ourselves caught somewhere between unbelieving activists and inactive believers. We can write a check to feed starving children or hold signs in the streets and feel like we've made a difference without ever encountering the faces of the suffering masses. In this book, Shane Claiborne describes an authentic faith rooted in belief, action, and love, inviting us into a movement of the Spirit that begins inside each of us and extends into a broken world.

Life changing, beautiful, loved it!
Revisado: 08-16-16
I have heard about this book from a couple authors I really enjoy and respect; namely Jen Hatmaker and Brené Brown. So after hearing them quote Shane on this book, I decided to get the audible. I absolutely LOVED that this book is read by the author, this book made me cry, laugh out loud, put my hands over my heart, and do a heckuva lot of thinking. I ended up buying the paper copy too because I wanted to be able to highlight stuff and perhaps dig deeper and journal my thoughts. You know?... I had been warned that this book would change my view of the world, and it did.
Unlike other reviewers, I won’t go on to say what % of Shane’s views I agree with or go on to defend my opposing views. This book is perfect, just the way it is. If you find something you don’t agree with, then let it float passed your mind. I found myself disagreeing to some of Shane’s views and then realized I was just clinging to my desire for a large house and a nice car; desiring a nice house and car for you and your family is not wrong, but neither is wanting to live like the folks at The Simple Way. So let’s just nod and respect them for their boldness and courage; we can share our own opinions and views when we write our own book… anyway… I guarantee a much larger chunk of this book will ring true in your heart and will provoke much reflection in your part… because that is exactly what this book did for me. Thank you for sharing this book with us, Shane.

Historia
What does it take to be secure in our sense of belonging and self-worth? We may hustle to attain this security through achievements, meeting expectations, or repeating affirmations to ourselves - but Dr. Brené Brown's research has shown there is ultimately one obstacle to our sense of worthiness. “Shame is the barrier,” she teaches, “and building shame resilience is how we overcome it.”

Revisado: 06-09-16
What a great audio! I love Brene Brown's work and try to get my hands on every book, audio, or video I see with her name. Her work is impacting my self-talk, and the way I live my life in general. As I read and listen to her books, I am very intrigued with what she has to say about men and shame; I realize most of my marriage issues come from the unresolved shame issues in my husband. I also realize how hard I am on him and I realize I really don't know how to be compassionate to him because I keep seeing him as the bully and not someone who needs to feel like he belongs and is seen. I would love to see more of her work relating to what her research has revealed about men and shame and vulnerability. I totally agree that if we can help our sons be better; we can help the world be a better place for our daughters too!

Historia
Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability—the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome—is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall.

Loved all the stories, loved that she narrated herself!
Revisado: 01-15-16
I loved Daring Greatly too but I was a little bummed it wasn't read by Brené. So when I saw this book was narrated by Brené herself, I was really excited.
If listened to this book twice now, also bought a hardcover and had my daughter read it. She loved it!
This book triggered a great deal of introspection, growth, and self-compassion in me. I think this is one of those books that divide life into "before and after" because it had such a huge impact in me.
Absolutely loved every personal story; the one about the speedo and church picture day, keep writing and narrating, please!!!!!

Historia
As a teenager and young man, Justin Lee felt deeply torn. Nicknamed "God Boy" by his peers, he knew that he was called to a life in the evangelical Christian ministry. But Lee harbored a secret: He also knew that he was gay. In this groundbreaking book, Lee recalls the events - his coming out to his parents, his experiences with the "ex-gay" movement, and his in-depth study of the Bible - that led him, eventually, to self-acceptance. But more than just a memoir, Torn provides insightful, practical guidance for all committed Christians who wonder how to relate to gay friends or family members - or who struggle with their own sexuality.

Thanks from a Christian mom desperate for Info
Revisado: 05-01-15
I was looking for information that would help me be able to understand and support my teenage gay daughter.
I am so dreading the prejudice and heartache she will encounter as she lives her adult life as an openly gay woman.
While I still don't have all the answers, this book has given me so much hope, peace, and has made me feel more confident about standing up for my daughter in front of people who will unavoidably judge her.
Thank you, Justin for this book.

Historia
The spirited child - often called "difficult" or "strong-willed" - can easily overwhelm parents, leaving them feeling frustrated and inadequate. Spirited kids are, in fact, simply "more" - by temperament, they are more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent, and uncomfortable with change than the average child. Through vivid examples and a refreshingly positive viewpoint, Mary Sheedy Kurcinka offers parents emotional support and proven strategies for handling their spirited child.
