What a fantastic informative book! I learned so many things about not only the entertainment industry Hollywood in the 1950s and 60s- just absolutely fascinating. And the narrator was amazing. I didn’t want to end.

Ok read
Revisado: 10-04-24
I really wish the author had gotten a professional narrator to read the book. I don’t know why authors feel the need to narrate their own books. It really makes a difference having a professional personnarrate. Her voice was just very boring to m, also although the information was good it was pretty basic. There was nothing earth shattering or illuminating. I suppose if you are very young and a new believer, you might find the information helpful, but there was really nothing in this book that I hadn’t already heard before. I feel like Brené Brown‘s books on shame are way more illuminating.

Historia
As a string of high-profile jewel thefts went unsolved during the Swinging Sixties, the press dubbed the elusive thief the King of Diamonds. Like Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief, the King was so bold that he tip-toed into the homes of millionaires while they were home, hiding in their closets and daring to smoke while they were sleeping. Rena Pederson, then a young reporter with UPI, started following the elusive thief while she managed the night desk. With gymnastic skill, he climbed trees and crawled across rooftops to take jewels from heiresses, oil kings, corporate CEOs.

Interesting history of Dallas
Revisado: 09-02-24
The book was really interesting as far as learning about the history of Dallas I found that to be fascinating. However, it’s very frustrating that there’s no definitive conclusion. You really don’t find out who the thief was. I also found the narration to be irritating. I wish they had gotten a narrator that was actually from the south. It would’ve been more enjoyable to hear someone with a Dallas accent. Also, she just didn’t do a good job in my opinion but overall, I would recommend it if you’re interested in the history of Dallas and religious history of the 20th century, I would definitely recommend the book.

Pretty good thriller
Revisado: 08-23-24
for starters, I didn’t care for the narrator and he almost ruined the book for me. He did such a bad job with a female characters. I really wish they had gotten a female to read those parts. The book was interesting and kept you guessing, but it didn’t resolve anything. It leaves you hanging so there has to be another book and I absolutely despise books that don’t have closure at the end. I don’t mind a little cliffhanger. I don’t let me read the entire thing only to have everything still be up in the air and nothing result, that’s how I feel let down and like I just wasted my time I would not recommend because of that

I really enjoy this series. I gave this book bad reviews because of the ending. There’s no closure whatsoever. I hate it when books just ended a complete cliffhanger. This was very disappointing and I would not recommend.

Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

At first I didn't think i was going to like this book-romance type books are not typically what I listen to. But the book takes place in Michigan where I live and I recognized a lot of the places etc. so I stuck it out. And I'm really glad I did. It ended up being a very enjoyable read!

Hated it
Revisado: 05-07-24
I kept waiting for this story to get good. It never happened. Don't waste your credit. I read a lot of books and I rarely dislike a book as much as this one in the genre I like. I didn't like any of the characters, there's no satisfaction on any level. Essentially hated it!
