Historia
This is the dramatic story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep. With the narrative power of fiction, this is a harrowing ride through the fire-filled skies over Berlin, Hanover, and Dresden. Fighting at twenty-five thousand feet in thin, freezing air no warriors had encountered before, bomber crews battled new kinds of assaults on body and mind. Air combat was deadly but intermittent: periods of inactivity and anxiety were followed by short bursts of fire and fear.

Historia
Mattimeo should have been named "trouble". Always getting into mischief and quick to lose his temper, the young mouse seems an unlikely candidate to take up the great sword once wielded by the legendary Martin to defend Redwall Abbey's peaceful way of life. But when Mattimeo and his friends are kidnapped by the fierce fox Slagar the Cruel, the bold little mouse learns that there is far more to becoming a true warrior than simply brandishing a sword.

Historia
At the height of World War II, the British Air Transport Auxiliary need help. A group of young women volunteer for action, but the perils of their new job don’t end on the tarmac. Things are tough in the air, but on the ground their abilities as pilots are constantly questioned. There is friction from the start between the new recruits. Spirited American Lizzie turns heads with her audacity, but few can deny her flying skills. She couldn’t be more different from shy, petite Ruby, who is far from diminutive in the sky. It falls to pragmatic pilot May to bring the women together.

Okay but disappointed
Revisado: 05-21-22
I was disappointed. In telling a story that should highlight the strength and determination of women, the author repeatedly wrote about women’s monthly cycles and how brave women were to pilot when on their period. Really? As a woman who regularly gets physically ill & vomits during my cycle, I’ve never thought about staying home sick or otherwise not getting things done. I’d love to hear from the women who actually flew to see if it was ever an issue. I’ve worked in male dominated fields. One does not earn respect by “bravely” working all month long regardless of one’s monthly cycle. That coupled with emotional characters whose flying is easily impacted by personal relationships & characters who openly cry in professional situations when they don’t get what they want and it is just disappointing. It puts forth the same old stereotypes about women and applies them to a group of extraordinary women who tenaciously fought to get in the pilot’s seat.

Historia
With more than half a million copies sold, Robert Mason's Chickenhawk is one of the best-selling books ever written about the Vietnam War. Fascinated with flying from a young age, Mason earned his private pilot's license even before graduating high school. He enlisted in the army in 1964 and endured an extremely challenging "weeding out" process in an effort to fly helicopters. Sent to Vietnam, he survived more than 1,000 air combat missions despite the violence and brutality exploding all around him.

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-19-22
I had two complaints. First, the audio is shoddy with repeated skipping and static. I download at low speeds for best audio and no issues with other titles. It didn’t impact my ability to understand the story, but it was frustrating.
While I was expecting details of serving in the air cav, there are many highly detailed descriptions of helicopter parts/mechanics along with detailed descriptions of how a pilot uses the pedals, the cyclic, and the collective in unison to fly. Such detailed accounts that repeat with various changes of scenery become tedious. The story wasn’t bad, but listing to “how to fly a helicopter” in various conditions scattered throughout the book instead of details of more missions or detailed accounts of various pilots/crew chiefs/military personnel was disappointing.

Fine story, awful audio
Revisado: 02-24-22
Audio was terrible. Countless clicks, pauses, and peppered with static. In places there was an echo. In other places the speed doubled and was far to fast to be at 1.0. Then it randomly slowed back down. Find another copy.

Historia
My Man Jeeves, first published in 1919, introduced the world to affable, indolent Bertie Wooster and his precise, capable valet, Jeeves. Some of the finest examples of humorous writing found in English literature are woven around the relationship between these two men of very different classes and temperaments. Where Bertie is impetuous and feeble, Jeeves is coolheaded and poised.

Good, clean humor with a side of wit.
Revisado: 03-24-21
Jeeves is an excellent Valet with a quick mind and an uncanny knack of knowing everything about anything. Wodehouse is creative and masterful with his characters and their various quandaries.
I do like the narrator, and the English accent is 100% appropriate for this book. That said, between the older vocabulary and phrases and the English accent, I had to give it my undivided attention. That made it 4 stars for me as I often listen while doing house chores or driving.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Outstanding
Revisado: 03-21-21
This was a listen I just couldn’t ‘put down’ so to speak. I appreciated the honesty. The words painted a vivid picture of desperation, hardship, and bigotry that was a part of life in Appalachia and more specifically Kentucky. It also countered the dark with beautiful gestures of love, friendship, generosity, and grace. It is something I could listen to again and again.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

This is an excellent read for all who desire a first hand account of the impact of Nazi ideology on civilized societies. Far more important that memorizing dates and military action, this books puts you in the shoes of those who lived through it and died because of it.
