Historia
I’m a man with too many secrets, so the last thing I need is a new roommate with a sexy smile and blue eyes that see right through me. Eight years ago, Roderick left town after high school. We’re not friends. I owe him nothing. But back then, I let one of my secrets slip, and he’s the only one who noticed. Part of me knows I should run far, far away. But the other part wants him to come upstairs and spend the night. But if I let him in, I could lose everything.

I really like this story up to a point and then it list me.
Revisado: 09-12-24
I was loving this story so much until one of the main characters did something that was really off-putting to me. It made me instantly no longer trust the character. Unfortunately, I can't envision a happily ever after for this couple.

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars
Revisado: 07-26-24
This is one of the most engaging, insightful, stark, thorough, and informative books I've ever encountered. I feel like I learned more about America's real history from Caste, even though I already knew much of it. The way our history is explained herein is as eye opening as it is shocking in its truth.

incredible performances, engaging story
Revisado: 07-01-24
Listening to the performance of this book was like watching a movie in my mind. The voice of Shadow was particularly engaging; it perfectly fit how you'd expect the character to sound - calm, gentle, patient, kind. The same is true for the performances of Laura and Wednesday. Yhe story kept you fully engaged throughout.

this story is quite unlike others stories I've enjoyed from Mr klune, in all the best ways. as someone who has lost a loved one to death, this story allowed me an alternate fantasy perspective to view death that I thoroughly loved.

History and Prehistory?
Revisado: 11-21-23
The characters brought to life in this story are compelling, likable, smart, and human. I really enjoyed spending time with them. I was completely caught up in the story, the history of Puerto Rico and also the lives of those with Peurto Rican decent living on the mainland. I am happy to have had my eyes opened a bit to the perspective of how the islanders are treated as second class citizens, if even that, because unfortunately I'd not given it much thought. I'd like to thank Ms. Gonzalez for giving me that.

Historia
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

Revisado: 11-16-23
As always, Rachel Maddow provides a deeply researched, educational, and at times, frightening look back at a dark part of Americ's history. Everyone should read this to gain an understanding of where we've been and what we should be doing g to head off this current round of fascism facing America today.

love the information , not the reader
Revisado: 10-02-23
There was so good information in this book that I plan on buying a hard copy for future reference. I found the reader to be a little robotic sounding, generally reading in a fairly monotone verse; it was distracting.

Incredible tale of American history
Revisado: 08-02-23
This is an incredible telling of the horrific reality that is war. I did not love Mr Bradley's reading of his work as he often took me out if the moment with a mispronounced word or a flub of a sentence. This would be 5 stars across if it were delivered by a more professional reader.
