Historia
The magic I possess - the magic I’m quickly mastering - it can destroy whole cities. Start wars. Change the tides of a battle. As the dragon vessel, pretty much everyone wants me either locked up or dead. Out of the shadows comes a new threat - a fighter who reminds me a little too much of my mentor. He wants to take my old place at Zurie’s side. And the only way he can get it, apparently, is to kill me. Dragons and humans alike just won’t leave me alone. In the end, that’s going to be their fatal mistake. Because I don’t go down quietly.

To be told your Grandfather was a hero but to be the only one willing to disclose the truth was brave and courageous.

I really liked this selection. I’ve always enjoyed titles about World War Two and lately I’ve been finding books from unusual perspectives and this book aligns with that. I found this book to be so interesting and informative. These are the stories that are slowly getting lost. I thank the author for taking the time to dig through the history to uncover the truth. God bless you and all those who suffer.

Great period piece
Revisado: 06-01-23
I’ve been reading and/or listening to Ken Follett’s novels for a long time now. This novel is similar to many others he writes as it focuses on a particular time period. This was another wonderful novel. He really spends time creating his characters, describing the scenes in detail, it’s very easy to visualize as you listen. I also enjoy that many of his novels have additional books that continue the story. Lastly, the reader John Lee is easy to listen too, as long as you don’t mind his accent. Ken Follett is a great author who is easy to listen too and get hooked on.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Chess prodigy’s story of growing up and becoming successful against the odds.
Revisado: 01-26-23
At times the narrator would pause at awkward points or just read with an inconsistent pace.
All that aside, I enjoyed the story which shares the bad, the good, and the ugly as this young lady experiences her life.

New author for me
Revisado: 06-30-22
I picked this book due to my interest in K9 work. I expected it to contain more K9 specific work description and training passages. Even though it did not, I was still able to get into the book and enjoy it. I really enjoyed the handler being female and the little competition between her and a male colleague. I would like to explore further books by this author.

Great piece of history
Revisado: 07-21-20
I truly enjoyed this novel. I had watched the movie previously but I didn’t get to know the men the way I do now. Listening to their accounts of bravery and selfless acts was inspiring.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books recounting military history especially WWII.
