Historia
Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

Historia
'Reason and imagination and all mental chatter died down... I forgot my name, my humanness, my thingness, all that could be called me or mine. Past and future dropped away... Lighter than air, clearer than glass, altogether released from myself, I was nowhere around.' Thus Douglas Harding describes his first experience of headlessness, or no self. First published in 1961, this is a classic work which conveys the experience that mystics of all times have tried to put words to.

A beautifully simple yet awe-inspiring look at life. I have read books 5 times the length with far more 'complexity' that doesn't touch the content in this book. Also surprisingly fun.

Historia
Philip Carey, a sensitive orphan born with a clubfoot, finds himself in desperate need of passion and inspiration. He abandons his studies to travel, first to Heidelberg and then to Paris, where he nurses ambitions of becoming a great artist. Philip's youthful idealism erodes, however, as he comes face-to-face with his own mediocrity and lack of impact on the world. After returning to London to study medicine, he becomes wildly infatuated with Mildred, a vulgar, tawdry waitress, and begins a doomed love affair.

Eloquent and haunting
Revisado: 10-21-18
You are whisked away by the performance and beautiful writing, but I want to read this book again with more time to ponder. The story is told to the sailors by Marlow, so the spoken word is very fitting for this novel. However I feel the story and the writing will develop in its magnitude by revisiting it, just as Marlow has dwelled on what happened many times on his trip to the heart of darkness.

Malone Dies

Historia
Malone Dies is the first person monologue of Malone, an old man lying in bed and waiting to die. The tone is fiercely ironic, highly quotable, and because of its extravagance, also very comic. It catches the reality of old age in a way that is grimly convincing, cruel as humor so often is, and memorable because of Beckett's way with words. A master dramatist, Beckett's novels can be even more effective when heard, and especially when read by such a Beckett specialist as Sean Barrett.

The process of a mind disintegrating
Revisado: 10-17-18
I listened to this immediately after molloy, equally as stimulating. Less of a story but Beckett is able to explore features of the mind and world with heightened acuity (albeit in his very unclear way).
