Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Never could she have imagined one of those adversities would would claim her sense of peace, safety and challenge her spiritual foundation. Her senses were under constant attack, however her tenacity and enduring strength carried her through each and every understated physical and psychological challenge.

Dunbar-Ortiz adroitly challenges the founding myth of the United States and shows how policy against the Indigenous peoples was colonialist and designed to seize the territories of the original inhabitants, displacing or eliminating them. And as Dunbar-Ortiz reveals, this policy was praised in popular culture, through writers like James Fenimore Cooper and Walt Whitman, and in the highest offices of government and the military.

As Ferguson, Missouri, erupted in August 2014 and media commentators across the ideological spectrum referred to the angry response of African Americans as "Black rage", historian Carol Anderson wrote a remarkable op-ed in the Washington Post showing that this was, instead, "white rage at work. With so much attention on the flames," she wrote, "everyone had ignored the kindling."

A must read for all!!!
Revisado: 04-12-19
This is yet another well descriptive reading that explains the deep rooted yet typically denied disease of this country. The historical documentation of mental and physical atrocities, enslavement, raping, pillaging, purposefully federal and state orchestrated barriers and codes aimed at preventing equality based solely on race. Yet despite all the documented historical papers and recorded voices of some who were victimized by such hateful "God loving Americans", the marginalized and undervalued rebelled, persevered despite threats and deadly opposition. White rage aka fear has oozed like lava upon Africans, Natives, Asians all in the name of fear, insecurity and imbalance opportunities.

Thank you the author and those resources she gathered information and references to assist others with the conversation of race and cultural experiences of those of that ethnicity. Fantastic source to educate and have discussions on those known and unknown and their role in social justice and thwarting the hurtful and harmful behaviors of those who are insecure, ignorant of previous generational behaviors or just don"t care about the inhumane versus humane treatment and respect of others.

Historia
In this groundbreaking history of the modern American metropolis, Richard Rothstein explodes the myth that America"s cities came to be racially divided through de facto segregation - that is, through individual prejudices, income differences, or the actions of private institutions like banks and real estate agencies. Rather, he incontrovertibly makes clear that it was de jure segregation - the laws and policy decisions passed by local, state, and federal governments - that actually promoted the discriminatory patterns that continue to this day.

Revisado: 09-25-18
Thank you for illustrating how local, state and federal unlawful, publically supportive and encouraged practices to unjustly permit the physical, emotional and financial abuses of African Americans. You clearly outlined and eloquently revealed unsubstantiated fear baiting directed at Caucasians for the soul purpose of maintaining white privilege and keeping blacks in a marginalized and undervalued position. These very discriminatory policies sanctioned by laws continue to this very day to ensure separate and unequal practices are perpetrated with limited recourse.

Thank you Mr. Stallworth for revealing your collaborative efforts to uncover the malignant rhetoric and deceptive accounts of those who use terrorism to advance their cause. Your investigation was truly necessary, courageous and dangerous and should have been allowed to continue. This is an example of the unveiling of the hatred practices and beliefs that we must continue to uncover and confront, for these individuals should not be allowed to hide in plan sight and infect others with their venom.
