Historia
A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab, and soon, you"ll be matched with your perfect partner - the one you"re genetically made for. That"s the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: Test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance, and love.

Interesting premise but mishandled
Revisado: 11-19-22
I found the premise of this book very interesting. I was looking for a sci-fi, genetic engineering type book and this had a "recommended" icon. Thought I"d give it a try. it even said it had been made into a series. It seems that the author must have had that aspiration in mind because you have to put something with shock value regarding gender in if you want the media to pick it up (being vague sa o as not to ruin it for those that intend to read although time is better spent elsewhere). This part of the read was not only not believable in any way but nauseating. I"m really tired of this kind of thing being stuffed down my throat. I do not recommend this book.

Historia
The Epistle to the Galations is regarded as one of Paul"s greatest and most important letters. It has been characterized as a "short Romans" and embraces in its six short chapters such a variety of vehement and intense emotion as could not be paralleled in any work. As the second of the trilogy on Habakkuk 2:4, Galatians embodies the germinal teaching on Christian freedom, which separated Christianity from Judaism and which launched it upon its destiny on missionary conquest. Galatians is the guidebook for the release from the bondage of religious legalism.

Absolutely the best
Revisado: 03-22-22
This ua absolutely the best commentary series I"ve ever used. it"s somplete and Chuck Missler goes into great detail. He has clearly devoted his life to the study of the Bible and seeking truth. He doesn"t seem to buckle under the pressure to "go along to get along". He simply reads the text and doesn"t add. The text references itself and clarifies itself I"d you read it in context and as a whole, which he clearly has. Eye opening! Love it.

Historia
As a sixteen-year-old, Tessa Cartwright was found in a Texas field, barely alive amid a scattering of bones, with only fragments of memory as to how she got there. Ever since, the press has pursued her as the lone surviving “Black-Eyed Susan”, the nickname given to the murder victims because of the yellow carpet of wildflowers that flourished above their shared grave. Tessa’s testimony about those tragic hours put a man on death row.

Really enjoyed this book
Revisado: 02-19-22
The story line is different than I expected. some of the characters surprised me a little. Even though I didn"t guess the story along the way, it wasn"t hard to follow. I like to work my business or do domestic things while listening. I like an interesting story line but not overly complicated for these type of activities. I also love a book that challenges me. this wasn"t that but still enjoyable overall. I especially appreciated that it wasn"t filled with filth that I wouldn"t have appreciated anyone overhearing me listening to. I might try another of her books.

Historia
Years before J.J. Abrams" new Science Fiction TV series Revolution, or Newt Gingrich"s prediction of a doomsday power outage, Raymond Jones wrote a spell-binding sci-fi novel with a similar theme. The world suddenly finds that, due to an unknown cause, all machines have stopped working. That means no electricity, no cars, no computers, none of the things the modern world has come to rely on. The story follows the population of a small college town as events unfold. Will scientists, using only primitive equipment be able to find the cause...and a solution? Will people band together and find a way to survive or will chaos ensue?

survival story
Revisado: 01-06-22
I like end of world survival-type stories. Twist on what happens, how will people adapt, how will they act when faced with the possibility of their own death? What is basic basic need and so on....When the "fact" is there is only enough to sustain you and yours for a defined duration, what do you do when faced with the dire needs of others? Does faith guide you, does you logic leave you cold and uncaring? Are you worth saving? what about the other guy? How is worth saving determined if you can only save a select few? I like these books because it forces me to examine myself. See if I live as I believe. Trust in the precepts I claim. But truly, how can I know until I"m in the fire? I enjoyed this book. Not preachy. not left or right leaning. Just interesting.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 12-09-21
I enjoyed the story. it wasn"t too dramatic or too action packed. Not too intelligent but didn"t find the need to check my brain at the door. I was able to listen while driving, sewing, working and doing graphic design. when I can"t sleep I pop on a book and it usually does the trick unless it"s super interesting. There"s so few super interesting books these days that I don"t mind a 3 star book. In fact, I"d recommend books over TV all day long. You"re not going to always read 5 star books. This was enjoyable and easy to follow. my only criticism is that I don"t care for books that call out characters like this one does. I know it was so the reader isn"t annoyed by being jerked back and forth in time. Either way I find the back and forth annoying even it you make it easy to follow by saying "Alice now" and "Alice then". Not a huge deal but my input.

kinda disappointed
Revisado: 08-30-21
I"ve read all the Dexter books leading up to this one and I"ve mostly enjoyed them. I"m totally sick of "gd" coming out of Deborah"s mouth every couple of seconds. I meant TOTALLY sick of it. I"ve stayed with the series hoping for it to get a little more exciting but this book helped me decide to end my adventure.
Apart from Deborah"s horrible language and overuse of one cuss word continuously until I can"t stand to hear it ever again, Dexter becomes a total woose. I get that the author is trying to show his alter ego is different like superman -- mild man in disguise then he rips it off to reveal who he really is but the author forgets that Superman only put clothes and glasses over a body built like a Mac truck. You never forgot who Superman was.
In this book, I started to wonder why I cared about Dexter and wouldn"t have minded if this was his last adventure. Way too whiny and talking about himself in the 3rd person. Tell the truth, if you had an acquaintance that talked about himself in the third person and whined, wouldn"t you "pimp slap" that bi-ach? -- or at least want too?

not to believable characters in my opinion
Revisado: 06-04-21
I had some difficulty believing in the characters. it was the inconsistency in character. sometimes Isaac would speak like he was educated at West Point and had the wisdom of an experienced ranking officer. af other times he was characterized as a 17 year old in puppy love. He wasn"t the only character I had trouble believing.
I Al"s ok found the fight scenes a bit like old karate movies where only one thing happens at s time allowing the star to handle everything in time. in addition, I was frustrated with the the slipping in and out of professional then teen in the fight scenes. couldn"t wait for them to end. actually skipped a couple.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 05-14-21
I listen to a lot of books while designing jewelry tools and have been disappointed lately. I started to wonder if the changing way that books are produced or writers are paid -- something unbeknownst to me is making writers lazy.
Many of the books I have finished are boring or the characters aren"t developed. Sometimes I find myself asking if that"s even possible regarding some storyline that the writer wants the reader to believe and the whole story is either built on or the story end with. infuriatingly lazy.
This book had so many layers that when I wasn"t reading it, I was thinking about the underlying themes and found myself discussing them with my husband and friends.
My husband never wants to discuss the books I"ve read and he hasn"t. He found the story so interesting he began looking up the history of the the indigo trade, the timing of the french war and I asked him to add
the hoop skirt to his search for timing. We had a great discussion! Bravo!

But in a split second, everything she"s known is proved to be a lie. A single bullet, gracefully tapered at one end, is found lodged at the base of her skull. Caroline is stunned. Just so so for me.
Revisado: 05-06-21
The story line was intriguing but the continued talk about the bullet got tedious. I realize the story is actually called "the bullet" so it seems reasonable but it did seem to go on and on. The last 1/3 of the book was interesting but I had to get through 2/3 first.
The narrator was good. She made the characters sound unique and interesting. I tend to work while I listen so, I need a story that will keep my attention. This wasn"t really it. I think if I were just sitting and listening, I may have enjoyed it more.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Methodically finished, no joy
Revisado: 05-01-21
I"m purposefully withholding specific details from the book so as not to spoil it for anyone that wants to read it.
I forced myself to finish this book. In telling Teddy"s story, I found myself wondering why the Author interjected himself in the book so much. At every point, it seemed that the author was showing showcasing his relationship to the community in a way that was, to me, annoying. He was supposedly investigative reporting in a sort of live manner through taped moments but it seemed staged then dramatized with Tibetan throat singing and Native American sounds. The things that didn"t seem staged sounded like dive bar talk -- banter and jiving. Mostly guys and their fish stories. I wasn"t impressed with this either. The only recordings I found interesting are the Buckel brothers in court (direct and believable), the defendant"s testimony (interesting), the judge at sentencing (sad) and defense layer after appeal (professional, not rude).
At 20 minutes into this book I checked the length to see if I thought I could make it through. that"s how much I didn"t want to continue. at one hour I switched to another book but I"m not a quitter. I kept asking myself if I ended it too soon and just didn"t give it a chance. I returned but at half way through it became a chore I just planned and methodically finished without Joy.
Here I share general details that i don"t believe spoil the book as they are my opinion. Read no further if you don"t want any details:
I couldn"t wait for this book to end but surprisingly I did find something interesting within. nothing the author intended nut something nonetheless. The author, a native himself, makes a point that "white people are at odds with the Natives. He bites this out as he talks about "whites". He compares the traditions/religious beliefs of Native people vs white people (not in depth but in the aspect of "inukun" or spirit people as it seems described in the book).
Teddy (Main Character) describes seeing, hearing, being pursued, troubled by and terrified by Inukun for the entire time he is described in the book. Nearly all the people if his community either have seen or acknowledge the existence of Inukun. None of these people are considered insane and they are not being funny.
I am an avid reader/studier of the Bible. It tells us that behind every carved idol and the worship of every other god are demons. Not Satan as Hollywood would have you believe but the terrifying army spirit world belonging to Satan. This is fascinating to me. The more I read the Bible, the more evidence in its accuracy I see. According to the Bible, there are no other gods but the one true God. So all other worship/ritual is attributed to demons and Satan. If this Guy Teddy saw Inukun, he was seeing demons and he wouldn"t be the first. Fascinating!
I give the book 3 stars because of what I can glean from it. Since I can never get the time back, I make lemonade.
