This is one of those books where you have so many pearls that it's about getting what you need out of it. I loved that the author was able to be so transparent about the way clutter affected him and his family and what he did to make his life better. The first book is a lot about decluttering the house, but my favorite was the second book and decluttering the mind. No matter what the clutter issues you have, this book will have something for you.

Excellent Trip Into Medical School

Didn't Get Frazzled reminds me of One L, Scott Turow's first year law school book that really gives someone wanting to go into the profession a genuine look into the realities of it, through fiction. It's amazing the clarity that the author provides inside and outside the school of medicine, as medical school, while a bubble on its own, always made it difficult for outsiders, anyone not in the immediate medical school class, to enter the social circles. I love that the medical education, which is in many ways an endurance and persistence test, moves different students in different ways. There are a number of those caricatures in the book, the student who knows everything, the one that can't stand to be wrong, the one who tries to have a girlfriend for better or worse, all while trying to survive an onslaught of responsibilities.

The writing is engaging, not only moving the story forward, but the descriptions are spot on, I'm not sure how to say this without sounding mean, but it doesn't read like a doctor wrote a book, it reads like a writer put together a doctor book. I expect somewhere in the author's medical school career or residency, he found solace in writing and bringing scenes to life. Nonetheless, this is really well written.

When I first heard the narration, I thought of Marc Bramhall narrating Lev Grossman's Magicians. In many ways, I heard the same introspection of Quentin Coldwater in Seth Levine, an ability to humanize a person who is losing his humanity. Nonetheless, I think you'll find it an engaging listen if you're on your way to medical school, but more so, if you have a desire for the nostalgia of professional school. It will take you right back.

It was a good book to get ideas from

So many books try to create a step-wise move towards entrepreneurship and really it's about getting that missing piece that can move one forward. This book provides so many different avenues for passive income that I believe that someone could readily find that if they are stuck, they can now move forward.

I'll be clear that the ideas are not necessarily new, but the book is complete and concise which is quite difficult to do, so I would make sure to have a notepad while I was listening so I could grab those essentials that were missing for my business.

I find that listening to books like this, when I'm not trying to do anything specific, my creativity moves very well and this book helped expand that creativity and innovation.

A Great Partner for First-Time Authors

Many times first-time authors will sit on a manuscript because they are worried that someone will judge their work as lacking and rather than share their experience, they keep revising it themselves. In Cover-to-Cover, Sandra outlines the ins and outs of working with an editor and understanding how this partnership will allow the author to not only move forward but enjoy the satisfaction of having a book that they can be proud of. While it would be nice if all editors were ethical and provided only exactly what the author needed, that is not the case.

In the book, Sandra outlines a number of ways to not only work with editors but avoid bad ones. As Sun Tzu says, "Every battle is won and lost before it's ever fought." In this case, the battle to get the book done with an ethical and competent partner begins by asking the right questions and knowing what to watch out for. The first-time author will invariably make mistakes and it's clear that Sandra understands this niche group, their needs, and their expectations and helps guide them to a successful finish with a completed book finally in hand. The chapter I found most helpful was the price chapter, it wasn't as much how much the editor charges, but how they charge, is it by the project, page, or word?

The narration was clear and engaging demonstrating a command of the material as if it was their own and the type of passion in voice and diction that one would want from a project that has come at the end of months of work from years of experience. Overall, it allows a first-time author to become not only a capable student of the craft of writing but to know when to bring in the editor to help take the project home. Note: I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it.

A look at what couples should consider financially

It's always tough to talk directly with one's spouse or partner about money and it's nice to have a book like this to bring up many topics so that there can be a good starting point. While it's not comprehensive, it's definitely got some of the big names in financial advice and provides a solid groundwork for the couple who is looking to move forward financially. I do wish the book had more success stories, financial freedom is a long road and the stories are uplifting. Still, the book contained solid advice and references. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

For anyone who is really just wanting to know more about pandemics and what happened in the past that it might inform the future, this is a great opportunity. It felt like sitting down with an expert and simply asking, "have we dealt with something like this before." The narrator is engaging and the information is well presented and easy to understand.

I loved the cover and title and felt really satisfied by the pace of the book. It was just enough to keep me wanting to go back into the worlds John Broughton created. I'm always a sucker for a time travel book, but when you really get the history right and make a reader feel like they are there, it's a success. I know just how hard it is to write a book like this and I think Andy Stevenson was a great choice for narrator. He got the intonations of the characters right and I forgot, for a while this was a work of fiction. Well done.

I've read Carolyn Jourdan's book Medicine Men and found this to be a great insight into how she did it. One thing the author focuses on that few others do is setting and how capturing the setting really does so much to help bring the reader in. She covers a lot in the 3 hours of audio and is worth the listen. The narrator, while he has an excellent voice, paces well, much like a teacher. It's a well thought out and executed book.
