Historia
Gabriel Ferrara is tall and handsome, and most days she wants to stab her eyes out with a pencil, anything to stop her seeing his perfection. How any female could work in these conditions and not be completely besotted with him is beyond her. Then he opens his mouth and she remembers why. He's bossy and sarcastic, with a wit so sharp it could cut glass. Every weekend is the same . . . while he's off living his dream life, she's counting down the days until Monday when she sees him again.

Absolutely Terrible.
Revisado: 08-18-24
This was the second worst book I’ve ever downloaded. The author used certain phrases so much it was ridiculous. “His silhouette blurred” “I paused for a beat.” “The skies turned red.” And the story was all over the place with multiple plot points going nowhere. I really dislike that I can’t leave a book unfinished because I would have been done somewhere in the second hour and could have spent the other 11 listening to something that gave some semblance of entertainment value. Please do yourself a favor and don’t.

Terrible Performance and Terrible Story
Revisado: 05-17-24
This vocal performance was the worst I’ve ever heard. Mistakes were left in, there was little to no intonation. There were no pauses to indicate the story jumping to another time. And then the story had major continuity errors and the plot was so shallow and boring. Now I know we listen to these romances ready to suspend disbelief but there was absolutely no depth to these characters that made you feel like you knew them, nevertheless like them. I listen to audiobooks A LOT and this was hands down the worst one ever. Yikes.

Historia
A natural storyteller and raconteur in his own right - just listen to Paddle Your Own Canoe and Gumption - actor, comedian, carpenter, and all-around manly man Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) brings his distinctive baritone and a fine-tuned comic versatility to Twain's writing. In a knockout performance, he doesn't so much as read Twain's words as he does rejoice in them, delighting in the hijinks of Tom - whom he lovingly refers to as a "great scam artist" and "true American hero".

It’s been decades since I first encountered this story and I was reeled in by the promise of Nick Offerman reading this classic and boy was it worth it! He rally brought the story to life and gave me a feel for the mischief of little Tom Sawyer. I will likely listen to this again. Bravo!!!

Historia
He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. My job’s simple: Keep all interested ladies away from the walled-off heir, by pretending to be his one true love. But you know what they say about fake-dating a billionaire: It’s all fun and games, until the scandals start.

Ridiculous…even for a rom-com.
Revisado: 03-17-22
Begonia is so unlikeable. Hayes is also unlikeable. Hope they manage to fall for each other is not even remotely believable. The attempts at slapstick comedy are tragic. “You can’t buy my love!”…but that’s literally all he does the whole book. All I listen to is rom-com and this is the worst one yet. And Teddy Hamilton speaking in a woman’s voice will forever garner a one star performance. Virginia Rose was good though.

An achingly funny story from the author of the best-selling You Had Me at Hello. When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues' wedding, all the blame falls on her - turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your school days. Shamed online and ostracised by everyone she knows, Edie's forced to take an extended sabbatical - ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. Easy, right? Wrong.

I Couldn’t WAIT to Write This Review!!!
Revisado: 10-25-21
I absolutely LOVED this book. The main character was so lovable, in all her flaws. The supporting character were very well thought out, I believe. There were moments that had me just sitting in rapt attention hanging on the readers each word. At one point I even shed a tear!!! I’ve never cried listening to an audio book!!!
I just loved this book and felt this weird almost…grief when it was over. I miss Edie. What a fantastic listen. It’s long, and that may put some off, but I loved it. The writer didn’t leave anything dangling or rush any endings. Freaking. Fantastic. Going to try and find more from this without immediately.

American Alexandra Freemar isn't about to put up with any flak from the uptight - albeit gorgeous - Scotland Yard inspector who accuses her of breaking and entering. She doesn't have time. She has two months in London to write the perfect romance novel - two months to prove that she can succeed as an author. Luckily, reserved Englishmen are not her cup of tea. Yet....

The Most Infuriating Main Character EVER!!!!
Revisado: 10-21-21
***Spoiler Alert***
This woman gets mad at her love interest for not dropping a mission to arrest a child pornographer to coddle her because she got bad feedback on her novels manuscript!!! And she never comes back from it. Bellyaches about her heartbreak for the rest of the book. I kept waiting for redemption…but no. This was horrible. I was so angry I cursed her multiple times out loud. But still kept thinking the author would find a way to make her likable. It. Doesn’t. Happen.
But kudos to the reader. She really did do a great job.

Historia
When Mona Lisa Cicciarelli is left at the altar by Joey and his overbearing mother, Alice, Mona Lisa wonders what will be worse - the pitying stares from her friends and family or her parents' renewed obsession with the age of her ovaries and impending spinsterhood. Her father, Chick, tries to fix her up the day after she is jilted with the handsome, Italian-Catholic Dante Coletti, and it's then that Mona Lisa realizes her sanity is at risk.

This is horrible. I’m unsure what’s worse, the story or the performance. The narrator over pronounces certain words like the word “to” when it doesn’t make sense which drove me crazy. Her southern accent was insufferable.
*Maybe Spoiler* The overbearing family, specifically the father, is not funny or cute. It’s weird and incredibly archaic. Setting your daughter up with a man the day after she’s left at the altar?? Badgering her about finding a man the day after??? This is crazy. I’m literally writing this in the middle of the book because it DOESN’T get better. I have listened to/read hundreds of rom-coms and can honestly say it’s the worst one I’ve ever experienced. Wow. Just wow.

Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity. But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me. Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

Performance? Outstanding. Story? Fair to middlin’.
Revisado: 08-21-21
I really enjoyed the vocal performance, to be clear. But as the story drew on, the main character became increasingly unlikeable. I hung on for the reveal in her divorce, but that was nothing. There were many promising plot points that were just given up on. I’m disappointed.

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

I really liked this. The side story of the sister with the best friend was unnecessary and distracting but it still gets five stars because the performances were SO well done and the main story was just so cute and fun to listen to. I would listen again to bold from this author and performers without hesitation. Loved it!!!

I see dead people. No, not like that movie. I’m a coroner, and yes it's the kiss of death on my dating life. When men find out what I do, I'm lucky to hear, “It was nice meeting you”. Until I almost accidentally kill Blake Hale with my car. Instead of being freaked out by me, he’s intrigued. No matter how much I try to scare him off, he keeps coming back for more. And for a follow-the-rules guy, he’s breaking them all for me.

Ridiculous--even for Romance novels
Revisado: 04-29-21
Now don't get me wrong...I live for a cornyromance novel. They are an escape from a very busy and stressful life. I love them. But this is trash. *very small spoiler in this next part* You mean to tell ME that giving a kiss to a boy who had an allergic reaction to the peanut butter sandwich she had for lunch (among other things that are stupid too) made her destined to a life alone??? And the way the townspeople treat her??? It's beyond implausible. I was going to return and stop listening but I stuck with it for the lil "mystery" that was going on. The twist is dumb and totally foreseeable. Should have just gotten my credit back. The one VERY good thing about this book??? The man reads the man dialogue and the woman reads the woman's dialogue even when they are in the others chapters. I really enjoyed that. It sucks when they put on a deep or high voice to read dialogue from another gender. The performers were really on point and I enjoyed them. I wish more audio books would adopt this.
