Historia
Rosie had the perfect evening lined up: she'd come home early, slip into a sexy dress and surprise her boyfriend with date night. What she was not expecting was to find his bags packed and herself unceremoniously dumped. But she can't even dwell on her heartbreak when she faces the more pressing matter of making rent this month. And in desperate times, she somehow agrees to let out her spare room to the upstairs neighbour. Aled needs a place to stay while his place is being renovated, and she gets to keep her home. It's a win-win situation for both - if only it was that easy.

Really cute and heartwarming
Revisado: 12-16-24
Finally a story with strong female characters! This story was a typical romantic comedy but I especially loved that the female characters in this story had a backbone! They stood up for themselves and made healthy decisions. I’m so tired of stories that drag on and on with women chasing toxic men. This was a welcomed change.

Great Story But Brace Yourself
Revisado: 12-09-24
This was a great story and I will definitely read the next book in the series but if you are sensitive to violence (especially against women and children) you might want to reconsider. Horrific details of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. Probably some of the worst I’ve ever read. If this will be an ongoing trend in the series I will not be able to continue. Other than the dark details of abuse I really enjoyed the story.

She may be a professional success and have a princely boyfriend in the Windy City, but she can’t seem to let go of being “the coroner’s daughter” from Freeport. Once again, she finds herself pulled back to her hometown when Jeremiah—the eleven-year-old son of her best friend, Jo—goes missing on the frigid shores of Lake Michigan.

So Disappointing & I’ve Had Enough of Brandon!
Revisado: 12-06-24
I waited anxiously for this book only to be thoroughly disappointed. The series is starting to get ridiculous. It might be time to warp it up and move on to a new town and new characters. Too many crimes in a very small town make it hard to believe. A Chicago surgeon who opens a surgical center then takes off to Freeport to solve crimes and is never in her surgical center.Emily is clearly not over Nick and considering they never found his body why would she ignore and block calls from an international number and ignore a text with an obvious Nick clue? That was really dumb. And Brandon!! Omg enough with Brandon already! That relationship was nauseating! There was zero chemistry between them yet she plans a secret wedding (eye roll). The kidnapping story dragged on way too long. This story was just a hot mess. We waited years for resolution on Nick and he finally shows up with 30 seconds left in the story looking homeless and clearly injured and malnourished with his toes exposed through his combat boots!

Revisado: 12-03-24
The most annoying and pathetic cast of spineless female characters with no self-respect. Also the narrator was awful. She made the character sound like they were on their deathbed. I would never listen to another audiobook narrated by her again

Historia
Nora Noone’s father was many things to many people. To the public he was a self-made titan of industry, whose luxury boutique hotels were among the most coveted destinations in the world. To his three ex-wives, he was a loving yet distant family man who managed to keep his finances—and his families—separate. But, to Nora, he was always a mystery—especially after his suspicious death at his cliffside home.

Gentle Mystery

Nice story. I liked that it didn’t drag on unnecessarily long and that there was no graphic violence. Just two distant siblings coming together with the common objective of understanding their dad’s life and the circumstances surrounding his death while simultaneously dealing with their own grief.

My Least Favorite Book by This Author

I’ve listen to several books by Melissa Wiesner and genuinely enjoyed them. This one was by far my least favorite. I would equate it to a Hallmark movie. The story lacked substance.

Historia
Gemma Summers is unlucky in love. She's known it since third grade, when her first crush blew a spitball into her hair, and a decade-long string of bad dates, boring sex, and abysmal morning afters has done nothing to improve her prospects. But when a random radio call-in contest lands her courtside tickets to the hottest playoff game of the season, Gemma's luck may finally be on the upswing, even if it doesn't exactly seem like it when the dreaded Jumbotron kiss cam lands on her and her date.

Couldn’t finish it
Revisado: 10-24-24
The only redeeming quality was the narrator. The writing was just ok. I find it hard to respect writers who use words like “bazillion”, “gazillion” and “ginormous” to emphasize excess. It sounds childish and ridiculous coming from an adult, educated woman who works in an art gallery and interacts with wealthy clients daily. The main characters are unlikeable. She’s weak and a pushover and he’s an overbearing ass. The whole broody billionaire male character meets helpless female who can barely pay her rent story line is so old already. Can we get a romantic comedy with strong female leads who aren’t going to be bossed around by some random moody guy with anger issues? It’s nauseating. Let’s just say, thank God it was a free listen and I didn’t waste a credit on it.

If you’re triggered by domestic violence I would avoid this book.
Revisado: 10-14-24
The story started off great and I was really enjoying the mystery and the plot twist going into the second half of the book. I did not enjoy part two at all. The way Ian’s point of view is written is awkward and I found it annoying. It didn’t seem natural. My other issue with this book is the amount of violence the main character is subjected to. It was hard to get through the physical and sexual violence. I wish there had been some trigger warnings because I would have avoided this book. I had to skip through a lot of it because it was so hard to listen to.

The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.

Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.
