Based on nearly 10 years of research in Italy, France, and Israel, including interviews with Gino Bartali's family, former teammates, a Holocaust survivor Bartali saved, and many others, Road to Valor is the first book ever written about the Italian cycling legend in English and the only book written in any language to fully explore the scope of Bartali's wartime work. An epic tale of courage, comeback, and redemption, it is the untold story of one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century.

Where does Road to Valor rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best in my top 20. I have many books in my library so this says a lot.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Gino Bartali of course. He showed he was not perfect but even with the heartbreak he and his wife suffered he still lived by his strongly held beliefs.
What does Stephen Hoye bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Not sure as I have not read the book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The loss of a child.
Any additional comments?
Gino Bartali showed great human endurance, not just in the racing but also in his achievements in helping the Jewish people.
