Twice as Nice
Revisado: 12-02-22
Second time I listened to this book , remains one of my favorite. Especially considering I know I shall listen to it again in the future - it’s that good. Many layers , many levels to think about with this story.
I think this story will stand the test of time.

Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Love the narrator of this series, he is one of the reasons I continue. The story resorted to cheap tricks to literally resurrect some story lines.

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Absolutely perfect. . .
Revisado: 09-15-21
I had finished reading the hardcover version a few weeks back, and it immediately became one of my favorite books. I held little hope that the book experience could be topped. . . but they they did with this audible version. They picked the absolute perfect reader of this book , J. K. Simmons - few actors could had Pe made this story better. . . he did.
If you are ever to TRY a story on audible please let it be this one.
PS - I misted up at the end even when I knew what was coming.

Why is the world the way it is? How did we get here? Does everything happen for a reason, or are some things left to chance? Philosophers and theologians have pondered these questions for millennia, but startling scientific discoveries over the past half century are revealing that we live in a world driven by chance. A Series of Fortunate Events tells the story of the awesome power of chance and how it is the surprising source of all the beauty and diversity in the living world.

By chance a surprisingly engaging book
Revisado: 05-04-21
A very science-y book about how our lives are really governed by chance. I was honestly surprised how much I enjoyed this book.
The piece that moved me to to tears was the afterward which was a fictitious discussion on the meaning of life , he used different comedians and authors and scientists own words to answer the question and create the dialogue. It truly moved me.
I listened to the audio version - I truly enjoyed this book. One of my all time favorite science reads.

Surprised me & I loved it
Revisado: 04-27-21
I am not certain what exactly I was expecting from this book. The time between purchase and actually listening was longer than I intended.
I loved this book , Dr. Eagleman explains many nuanced ideas with easy to understand stories or analogies. This is one I will definitely revisit.
Especially liked the summary at the end tying, what I interpreted to be the ideas biocentrism with our current understanding of how the brain works.
If you like ‘brain stuff’ this is the book for you.

Favorite History Book Ever (non-history wonk)
Revisado: 12-12-20
Preface: I am fascinated by the Supreme Court. I never really considered myself a student of history, I am after-all a science teacher. I loved this book, it was more of a history of the US with the court being used as the focus throughout the last 250 years.
My only wish would be that I could come back in the year 2300 and read the authors next installment.

Not what I expected - better actually
Revisado: 07-07-20
I expected a book more on the topic of heady physics information. I got a book that was more focused on the idea of time and I was very happy for it. The reader is taken through the time evolution of the Universe in an easy to comprehend manner.
My background is an Earth science teacher - this book will answer many of the questions you never knew you had.

Historia
Bill Bryson once again proves himself to be an incomparable companion as he guides us through the human body - how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts (your body made a million red blood cells since you started reading this) and irresistible Bryson-esque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular. As Bill Bryson writes, "We pass our existence within this wobble of flesh and yet take it almost entirely for granted."

Bryson being Bryson
Revisado: 11-25-19
Having read a number of Mr. Bryson’s books I was very excited to see the topic of this book in advance and pre-ordered it. I was not disappointed . Yes his tales meander a bit and yes he goes off on tangents but the information presented is so wonderfully delivered.
If you are interested in knowing yourself (the human body better) this is the book for you.

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Best audible book I’ve listened to.
Revisado: 09-10-19
Before listening to this book I was familiar with Trevor Noah, but that is all. I was neither a fan nor someone who dis-liked him.
The way this book opened my eyes to the history of South Africa and Apartheid through Trevor Noah’s sharing of his childhood and into adulthood truly captivated me. Mr. Noah did it with humor and wonderful story telling. I laughed , I cried and I learned - what more could you possibly want out of a book.
Additionally for the narrator (Mr. Noah) your skill with languages and dialects was the piece de resistance - it made the audible book near perfect. Thank you so much.
