Twists Everywhere
Revisado: 12-20-24
This was a great read/listen. There were several WTH moments that caught me by surprise. The story was fairly fast paced with some loose ends tied up and others that make you hope for a good ending. This series is my favorite from LJ Ross and I'm looking forward to the next story.

Jodi Taylor and Zara Ramm are an unbeatable combination. Learning how Smallhope and Pennyroyal met and became of one the best recovery agents in the future was an absolute joy to listen to. I was enjoying the wit, humor and sarcasm throughout the entire story. I can't wait to see how these two continue.

Britain. The near-future. A right-wing government believes it has the answer to society’s ills—the Sanctity of Marriage Act, which actively encourages marriage as the norm, punishing those who choose to remain single. But four couples are about to discover just how impossible relationships can be when the government is monitoring every aspect of our personal lives—monitoring every word, every minor disagreement…and will use every tool in its arsenal to ensure everyone will love, honor and obey.

Chillingly Plausible
Revisado: 10-20-24
This dystopian story by John Marrs is chillingly plausible. With today's thoughts on society and marriage this could be a part of our world in the not too distant future. I couldn't stop listening to this amazing and spine tingling tale. The narrators were amazing. I'm looking forward to more from this author.

Not What I Had Hoped
Revisado: 08-25-24
I was looking forward to reading this author's second novel as his first was very enjoyable. Sadly that was not the case. The constant back and forth with past and present made it disjointed and difficult to follow. There were several times I had to backtrack to understand the plot.
Also, I could not connect with any character in this book. Some showed a little compassion and empathy, but not enough for me to believe in them or what they were doing was right. There were a few characters that had no redeeming qualities and were completely unlikeable.
The performances by Richard Armitage and Jacob Dudman were good, but they still couldn't make this story intriguing or very enjoyable.
Overall, this was a little boring but an OK read.

Washington Poe has a story to tell. And he needs you to listen. You'll hear how it started with the robber birds. Crows. Dozens of them. Enough for a murder. He'll tell you about a man who was tied to a tree and stoned to death, a man who had tattooed himself with a code so obscure, even the gifted analyst Tilly Bradshaw struggled to break it. He'll tell you how the man's murder was connected to a tragedy that happened fifteen years earlier when a young girl massacred her entire family. And finally, he'll tell you about the mercy chair.

Dark, Gritty and Brilliant!
Revisado: 06-11-24
It's very rare that I dare not multitask when listening to a story, for fear of missing a clue. This was one of those times. This novel is dark, gritty and brilliantly written. There are so many twists and turns that I couldn't put it down. It was a brilliant read/listen. John Banks' narration was superb. I'm going to remember this story for a long time.

Intriguing and Hearbreaking
Revisado: 06-04-24
This was my first novel by L.H. Stacey and I was intrigued from start to finish. Cassie is an archeologist on a dig in Herculaneum when she is called home because her Aunt Aggie is gravely ill. While tending to her dying aunt, she learns of a long buried secret that must not come to light and as she works to keep the secret buried she is in danger from another who suspects she knows of their own buried secret.
This story is filled with mystery, intrigue, love and loss. It was a joy to listen to this narration by Claire Storey.
