Historia
The U.S./Mexican border stretches nearly 2,000 miles and is protected by a thin line of overworked and underfunded U.S. Border Patrol Agents, who risk their lives every day. Stigmatized in the media and fought over in the halls of Washington D.C., this is the true story of what is really happening on the U.S./Mexican border. Borderline provides an inside look through the eyes of former U.S. Border Patrol agent, Vincent Vargas, who is no stranger to violence, having served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment.

I thought I knew…
Revisado: 11-22-23
Vargas just kept reinforcing the VALUE in our Border Agencies. This has been a deep dive behind the curtain of some true heroes. As a Veteran combat medic, I thought I had perspective… I’ve MET the author, and was continually amazed. Patriots approaching qualifying “service age” would be wise to give a read/ listen. Vargas’ career path has proven anything but a straight shot, yet he continues to hit his mark. VERY IMPRESSIVE!

Historia
Titus Crown is the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County, Virginia. In recent decades, quiet Charon has had only two murders. But after years of working as an FBI agent, Titus knows better than anyone that while his hometown might seem like a land of moonshine, cornbread, and honeysuckle, secrets always fester under the surface. Then a year to the day after Titus’s election, a school teacher is killed by a former student and the student is fatally shot by Titus’s deputies. As Titus investigates the shootings, he unearths terrible crimes.

Brilliant imagery!

The content is for mature audiences, most certainly… so if you can stomach the gore and racially charged dialogue, get set for a ride! Excellent story building🙏🏼

Historia
Throughout history, humans have been driven by the quest for two cherished ideals: community and freedom. The two don’t coexist easily. We value individuality and self-reliance, yet are utterly dependent on community for our most basic needs. In this intricately crafted and thought-provoking book, Sebastian Junger examines the tension that lies at the heart of what it means to be human.

Historia
By the time we become adults, most of us have joined the religion of suffering, which preaches that unless circumstances are controlled, life will be a mess. We compare ourselves to others and speculate about an impossible-to-know future, holding out hope for an improved life through getting ahead, fulfilling passion, or finding true love. But the idea that happiness comes from putting effort toward altering one’s circumstances is harmful and backward. What if we instead learned to understand that circumstances can rarely be controlled, and that life is, and always will be, messy?

Always relevant
Revisado: 06-28-22
Cy has a unique talent for releasing content right on time. She has her finger on the pulse of human behavior far better than most voices in the business and people space. From her guest spot on Gary Vaynerchuk’s program, she has introduced No Ego at just the right time for me. Reality Based Leadership hit on the heels of that when my professional picture was changing. Now Cy shows up with more grace and empathy, while proving a powerful leader, like we all need today’s evolved marketplace. Thank you!

What an "A Ha!" moment for a Fitness Professional
Revisado: 03-21-17
Where does Hear Your Body Whisper rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is the first in a non fiction genre that I've listened to, and it's definitely encouraged me to listen to others of its kind.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Klettke provides the backstory and science behind what has been reduced to nearly lore in the medical community. She reinforces the "gut" beliefs that I formed early in my exposure to the fitness industry.
What about Marnye Young’s performance did you like?
The presentation of the narrative was not rushed, and the delivery was what helped keep the material flowing. It was very much like she had a cursory knowledge of the material.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I've been a fitness professional since the late 1990's. Moving from subjective sports, to sports entertainment, and now into tactical and functional fitness has allowed my practices to adjust, without changing my principles. This book bolstered my principles while revealing my practices that I had even been unaware of.
Any additional comments?
This was a great discovery for this next season of my fitness career. Thank you for sharing such a strong case for a belief long held by the core fitness professionals.
