Must like Sci Fi...and all things Ray Porter
Revisado: 06-10-18
Was it as amazing as Bob-i-verse? Technically no. Was it still good? Yes. I would highly recommend it. However we audiblephiles have a distinct advantage over the page turners. WE HAVE RAY PORTER! He made the book. There were certain moments where I thought, “This might be considered a little slow by the book readers.” That doesn’t happen with Porter at the healm.
Taylor- Thank you for quitting your job to write full time. Weird how something you worked on for months I devoured in four days. I can’t wait for whatever project you tackle next.

Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

I read/listen to books to escape. And this was an escape I couldn't escape from. Really my stubbornness to not have a book unfinished in my library almost did me in.
If you like books about the nasty side effects from World War II then by all means read on.
I however was dissatisfied and am glad I finished it.

Prince Liam. Prince Frederic. Prince Duncan. Prince Gustav. You've never heard of them, have you? These are the princes who saved Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, respectively, and yet, thanks to those lousy bards who wrote the tales, you likely know them only as Prince Charming. But all of this is about to change.

Ahh the genius that is Bronson Pinchot
Revisado: 08-13-14
I know I'm not alone being an adult who enjoys stories meant for the youth, lacking in extreme violence, sex, and prose. Sometimes a person just wants to hear a funny, cute story and this does the job superbly.
And as good as the story is, it is nothing compared to the sublime performance by Mr. Pinchot. Yes it may be attributed to a smashing editor but the fact that he uses at least four accents, monster voices etc. to voice over 20 some odd characters was astonishing. Yes Yes I know it's his job, whatever. I can't speak a with a would be Irish, English, So. Cali, and Austrian/German accent and back again without blurring them all together. The character voices were so clear that I didn't have to have the "and so&so said this" "and so & so so said that." You could differentiate from voice alone who was speaking and that is because of Bronson's performance.
I am a Bronson Pinchot fan through and through and I'm slowly going through his entire repertoire. Yes Matterhorn is still looming over my shoulders as a very heavy read so I will enjoy these little peace nuggets when I get them. Cheers!

A good story about a ship made out of animals and the politics of war. I've decided not to continue on with the story but maybe you might like it. If you have a spare credit than by all means use it. However I wouldn't purchase this book. Maybe rent from a library or something.

I've immensely enjoyed hearing the adventures of MJN airlines through Audible. I began this series because of Benedict Cumberbatch and now I listen for all of the characters. I highly recommend this charming series for anyone with a funny bone and who likes English humor.

Not bad really. Not superb as in his other books. Mr. Green has a talent to write youth in the most stark light possible. Which considering how cagey teenagers can be, it's a real gift. Paper Towns had a satisfactory ending and characters you could care about. All in all not bad.

I thought it was okay. I'm one of those listeners that when I start a book it needs to be bloody awful before I will quit reading it. This wasn't that bad. It wasn't great though either. I will say the fourth story was awesome! Beginning, middle, and end with humor, subtle romance and a good conclusion. The others were weird complex story lines not given enough time to flush out in the 90 minutes the authors were given.
If you like the authors and the narrators then by all means get the book. It's nice to have in your collection. However don't be surprised if the stories are just okay. You will be able to put this one down.

Took over ten hours to get to Scott Brick
Revisado: 09-03-13
For people who like Sci Fi and Orson Scott Card, this one isn't too bad. I'll probably continue the series for the simple avoidance of the nagging I would experience by not knowing what has happened to these characters.
However I started this book for one reason alone, Scott Brick. And it took over ten hours to get to him and I have a sneaky suspicion that it's going to be a short visit.
Would I recommend this book? Only if you like the author and the genre. People just starting out? Read Ender's Game first. Better to wade into the water vs throwing yourself into the deep end.

Historia
Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next. Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him.

Any additional comments?
Growing up Bronson Pinchot was Balki Bartokomous, a beloved character in my Friday night line up. As an adult he has taken me into the world of magic and monsters with Larry Correia. I can't imagine a better partnership. Right up there with Ginger and Fred.
The only con is the fact that I will now have to wait another year or so to hear more from my favorite Grim Noir characters
Good thing Pinchot has narrated 93 other books in the meantime to keep my busy :)

People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Deliciously Evil
Revisado: 05-27-12
What made the experience of listening to A Dirty Job the most enjoyable?
Honestly it was Fisher Stevens. He made the book for me. That and my favorite line, "Like bear?"...listen and you'll understand
Who was your favorite character and why?
All of them. Seriously, I know that sounds presumptuous but it's true. The lead character, the supporting characters, the daughter, the baddies, they were all fantastic.
Which scene was your favorite?
There was a scene when a character from another one of Christopher Moore's books showed up in this book. I just loved that!
Any additional comments?
You can't take life too seriously while listening to a Christopher Moore book. Enjoy the well earned distraction
