Historia
Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective in literary history. For the first time since the death of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a new Holmes story has been sanctioned by his estate, whetting the appetites of fans everywhere. Information about the book will be revealed as deliberately as Holmes himself would unravel a knotty case, but bestselling novelist and Holmes expert Anthony Horowitz is sure to bring a compelling, atmospheric story to life.

Not my favorite from Horowitz
Revisado: 12-26-24
As a huge fan of other writing by AH, this book was a disappointment. It took a while to set the stage and orient us to how Dr. W would be retelling an old case. But as the story proceeded there was very little of Sherlock in the story. It felt like the author forgot the primary attraction is not a convoluted story, but how Sherlock experienced the case and found clues that lead to a spectacular conclusion. This was mostly overlooked here. And not with Sir ACD.

One small handwritten letter, sent from a dark, remote corner of the planet and lost in the system for 60 years, is about to change the entire human race. Outside Denver, Colorado, Joe Rickards stands over a small aircraft wreckage, studying burnt remains still smoldering in a field of freshly fallen snow. He's an investigator for the NTSB, working to carefully roll back the last several hours and identify the cause of the accident. But this time, he can't.

Not for me,
Revisado: 12-24-24
Although I was spellbound and richly intrigued and entertained by his first series, I cannot get through the suffering (yes, uncovered eventually, I am sure) protagonist and miserable depressing Nazi participation in this story. While I welcome true stories to be written and read on the subject, weaving them into fiction is like parading around with your poor dead pet for entertainment.

When Emilia explores the impressive castle, she finds a dead man in one of the turrets. The snowstorm hits and the local police can’t reach the castle until it lets up. With no one able to leave, the family insists they carry on with the wedding, which makes Emilia's job as the coroner a bit easier—the suspects are in one place—and complicated because the killer has Emilia in his sights. The fact that no one claims to know the victim isn't helping. It’s up to Emilia to uncover the mystery of who the victim is so the killer doesn’t get away Scot free.

Perhaps this should be a YA book? The protagonist/narrator is far too sappy, repeats herself too frequently, and dies the dumbest things that we all know will get her in trouble. While many characters and places are good parts. You decide.

Toni and Agatha are in the car on the way to Officer Bill Wong’s long-awaited wedding when, much to their shock, a naked young man bursts through a hedge on the side of the road and comes running toward them. Terrified, he explains that he has just seen a dead body in the woods. Toni lends him an old t-shirt to cover himself, Agatha calls the police, and the young man takes them to the spot where he saw the body, across from a meadow where the Mircester Naturist Club is due to have its annual summer barbecue.

It was a great attempt to reproduce the creative magnetic & infuriating magic of Agatha’s life and home. However, only MC herself could truly make it happen. Please stop trying and let Agatha drift to join her much beloved and admired creator.

Not a real MC B story, regretfully
Revisado: 12-21-24
First, the story was terribly choppy and poorly edited. Next, the constant description of the fall leaves and weather was ridiculous! Who cares and what did it matter to the story? And last, the bits of the ole Agatha were so eagerly consumed, I nearly started with book 1 rather than continue on..

Boring
Revisado: 11-25-24
What a disappointment. Reading the synopsis, I thought I’d be a part of the puzzle solving. But not only was I not that, I haven’t any idea what puzzles they solved. This was just some “journey” into caverns under the desert where four people from ; corners of the Earth, with the predictable awful accents speak from their knowledge or personality.. how many times does Marcus get introduced with his practicality??
. But stay away from book 1, too. The narrator is abysmal. At least they traded him. In for a far less experienced but better sounding woman. She actually re-reads passages which don’t get edited out !
Just Don’t bother.
