Historia
With the story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use “radical, ordinary hospitality” to bring the Gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own but as God’s tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives - helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.

Revisado: 11-18-24
Rosario Butterfield has shared her life with us in this book, and in doing so has offered her readers the same radical hospitality that she offers her neighbors and her church family. She urges us to offer this hospitality to the corner of the world where we live and the people around us. Let's follow her advice and example and transform the world.

Modern culture is increasingly outspoken against a biblical understanding of what it means to be a woman. Even some Christians, swayed by the LGBTQ movement, have rejected God’s word on issues of sexuality and gender in favor of popular opinion. In light of these pressures, it’s more important than ever to help women see the truth about who God created them to be. In this powerful book, Rosaria Butterfield uses Scripture to confront 5 common lies about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty often promoted in our secular culture today.

Excellent book at a vital time
Revisado: 09-17-24
I love that the author read her own book. She did it well, and thus we have her own cadences and inflections to influence our understanding. The content of the book is both full of truth and full of personal stories and practical application. The Bible is her source of truth for the whole orderly discussion, and I have had my eyes opened by the points she made from it.

Romance and Adventure set in a divided England
Revisado: 09-09-24
I enjoy the plot with its twists and turns and the dry humor of the author. I also really appreciated the glimpse into the life of England when there were such fierce hatreds between people as are displayed in this book. People say there is little of historical accuracy in this work, but I don't think that detracts at all from my enjoyment.

Excellent Storytelling
Revisado: 08-17-24
I thought this book was delightful. It showed a boy's experience of the beginning of a war, and displayed His courage, faith and patriotism in the face of fear. It was well crafted and the characters well developed. I also loved having the author read his own book! He reads well and dramatizes the characters, even down to sounds and songs.

Over the past decade, A Patriot's History of the United States has become the definitive conservative history of our country, correcting the biases of historians and other intellectuals who downplay the greatness of America's patriots. Professors Schweikart and Allen have now revised, updated, and expanded their book, which covers America's long history with an appreciation for the values that made this nation uniquely successful.

The French and Indian War: 1660-1763 covers much more than the few years during which the English and French fought over the division of the North American continent in one of the most neglected periods of American history. In this volume in the Drama of American History series, authors Christopher Collier and James Lincoln Collier trace how England’s other rivals for control of America were eliminated over this period until the only source of conflict left would be between the British and their own colonists.

The Practice of the Presence of God is a record of the conversations and letters exchanged between Brother Lawrence and people in his community, who came to him for advice once they noticed his passionate living for God.

Awkward interpretation of a Christian classic

Two very different books
Revisado: 10-13-22
Brother Lawrence wrote a book on how to become intimate with God and have peace by developing the habit of constant conversations with Him. He recommended to keep one's heart in love with God and do nothing but from love for Him. when the mind wanders, which it will often at first, he says not to fret but just to bring it back to praising and conversation with God. By doing this, one seeks the goal of heaven: intimacy with the Almighty God.
James Allen wrote a book on how each man is the master of his thoughts and was the force guiding and directing them through the paths of life. What is more, he asserts that all a man's circumstances are subject to his thoughts and attitudes. No man with perfect control of his thoughts can be affected by circumstances, whether high or low ones.
These are both books to encourage thought and inspire change in people. and Edward Lewis performs them well !
