I’ve read other lie detection books and this is by far the most interesting and science based.

So many great principles. With most high performers, there is more opportunity for improvement by stopping things you’re than from doing things you’re not doing. This book illustrates that point.

It’s not a political book; it’s a HISTORY book.

I almost never read/listen to political books and am even less likely to read one so squarely against a president I voted for. The author discussed verifiable facts, often cited multiple sources, and in many cases included the audio of sources themselves (including President Trump) in their own words. Karl outlines many ways a different outcome could have been possible. This book will take you back to 2020; know that before you start. This is not a political book, it’s a HISTORY book, and those who do not learn from history (or perhaps more accurately in this case deny or white-wash history) are dammed to repeat it.

This is a great book. I love how each section starts with a real teaser, like in this chapter you’ll learn why you SHOULD compare apples and oranges. Many great examples to his powerful message.

Thoughts from a reflective practitioner, a navy seal, scholar, and philosopher on living well. This may be the best book I have ever read/listened to, and I can not recommend it highly enough. Just awesome.

At first this book seemed overly academic, but that grew on me. It’s full of crest nuggets of wisdom that can be applied.

35 hours long- that’s not a typo. This could have been 5 audio books, and some authors do it that way. All of them would have been worth listening to. This covered so many topics from intro to crazy advanced. Consider this book equivalent to a graduate class. I just bought a used hard copy of this book because I missed all the “in the diagram/chart below” etc. Also, unlike most audiobooks, the chapters actually have titles so you can use that to skip to just the parts you need (or listen to the just the lessons learned, which are the chapter summaries). In such a long book this was great to have. I’ll need to go through this a second time for sure along with the hard copy once my brain heals a bit.

I’m a non-clinical data scientist starting to work more in the clinical space, and this book taught me so much. Most of his non-clinical citations come from books I’ve read, and he summarized their work very well. I heard this author speak at the 2019 CHIME CIO forum, and bought this book while he was talking, without reading the reviews or listening to a sample. I just knew it would be great, and I was not wrong.

The first half was packed with terms, history and facts, so much so I plan to go back and re-listen right away. This part I really enjoyed and was exactly what I was looking for. The last half was full of predictions and speculations, like people in the future won’t go to grocery stores. As someone who stops at the market because I don’t know what I want for dinner (and sometimes gets the rotisserie chicken because of the way it smells) I doubt that. Overall a great book that provides the foundation on this topic and worth the time.

This would have been a much better book without all the unnecessary sentences and repetition of the little meat that was there. It seemed like the author took three hours of material and crammed it into a ten hour book.
