Historia
In The Accursed Tower, Roger Crowley delivers a lively narrative of the lead-up to the siege and a vivid, blow-by-blow account of the climactic battle. Drawing on extant Arabic sources as well as untranslated Latin documents, he argues that Acre is notable for technical advances in military planning and siege warfare, and extraordinary for its individual heroism and savage slaughter. A gripping depiction of the crusader era told through its dramatic last moments, The Accursed Tower offers an essential new view on a crucial turning point in world history.

Another great book by Roger Crowley
Revisado: 03-13-20
I had no particular interest in the crusades or that general time period before I stumbled upon Empires of the Sea by Roger Crowley. Read that several years ago and have since read all of his
books - three times. He is just an excellent writer, makes history come alive. I have since read many other books regarding this time period, but Mr. Crowley is still one of my all time favorite authors. I would put this book in the same category.

Historia
After a deadly terrorist bombing at the American embassy in Lebanon in 1983, only one man inside the CIA possessed the courage and skills to rebuild the networks destroyed in the blast: William Buckley. But the new Beirut station chief quickly became the target of a young terrorist named Imad Mughniyeh. Beirut Rules is the pulse-by-pulse account of Buckley's abduction, torture, and murder at the hands of Hezbollah terrorists.

Non-political fact based account of rise in terror / terror tactics from bombing of U.S. Embassy in Lebanon to today. Well written, a book that would be good for every American to read.

James Bond has nothing on Dusko Popov. A double agent for the Abwehr, MI5 and MI6, and the FBI during World War II, Popov seduced numerous women, spoke five languages, and was a crack shot, all while maintaining his cover as a Yugoslavian diplomat....

Better than Bond
Revisado: 07-07-19
Very interesting read, have to say I like the real bond better than the Hollywood version. However, was a difficult book to read. Almost like a text book. Learned a lot and glad I read it, but was not one I will read again.

Well written, very well narrated. Thought I was fairly well versed on WW2, but this book was enlightening.

Historia
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Great read
Revisado: 09-27-18
Thought provoking, well researched, and entertaining. Brings up numerous good points regarding how society helps in the development of successful people. However, he minimizes the drive and hard work of individuals within groups who had same opportunities yet pushed themselves to success.

Historia
In The Accidental Superpower, international strategist Peter Zeihan examines how geography, combined with demography and energy independence, will pave the way for one of the great turning points in history, and one in which America reasserts its global dominance. No other country has a greater network of internal waterways, a greater command of deepwater navigation, or a firmer hold on industrialization technologies than America.

Great read and see his predictions happening today. What I like about the author is a lack of political slant. Hard to argue facts regarding geography or demographics. Detailed, thoughtful, well written.
