Troubling and boring at the same time
Revisado: 03-03-19
The performance was terrible. No unique voices. And the one voice the narrator used sounded like a 1970's soap opera star. The lead character Gideon is deeply warped into thinking he has a Jesus complex with a complete lack of understanding of anything in the world around him. His object of affection, Sebastion, is a troubled guy who Gideon literally forces, with the worst timing, into a 'contract'. If you dont like the word contract do not read this book. Its used in almost every paragraph. This is a BDSM book maybe? There is endless talk of Dom's and sub's and contract but half way through the book there was one rather mild scene that was wierd at best with yet another endless contract talk. I made it to chapter 18 of 43 and gave up on it. IF I could get a refund on the credit I would.

the absolute best written and performed book
Revisado: 02-18-18
What made the experience of listening to Carry the Ocean the most enjoyable?
This book opened my eyes to the world of Autism like I could never have predicted. The story was so well written and the performance by Iggy Toma had such sincerity it truly touched my heart.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Carry the Ocean?
They way that Emmet cared for Jeremy was so real and so pure.
Have you listened to any of Iggy Toma’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Iggy is the best. I search for books performed by him even before I search for authors.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I dont like to listen to books in all one sitting. I like them to last.

Maybe a better read than a listen
Revisado: 12-29-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The narration was terrible. It sounded like Jeff Gelder was reading the newspaper. No inflection. The characters were boring because of this
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
most interesting was the actual story although it needed to be heavily edited.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jeff Gelder’s performances?
No
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment
Any additional comments?
The idea of the story was great. The execution in writing and the narration wasn't.

Angelus Salvatore is the only necromancer in all of Boston, and his name is whispered warily by the undead and fellow sorcerers alike. He and his brother Isaac are the lone survivors of an attack by an army of the undead, in which Angel used a spell so powerful it forever marked his place in history. Now, years later, Angel struggles to balance his career as a teacher of the higher magical arts, his role as big brother, and a tenuous relationship with an Elder vampire from the local clan.

Good story. Did not like the narration at all.
Revisado: 09-23-17
What did you like best about The Necromancer's Dance? What did you like least?
the story was interesting and it took place in Boston which is where I am from so I could easily picture the scenery.
What aspect of Joel Leslie’s performance would you have changed?
Overall he did a great job with a notable exception. The Boston "accent" that Angel had was awful. I cringed most times when he spoke. It was so bad had to take breaks from listening. This probably didnt sound so bad to people not from the area from what I read in the reviews.
Could you see The Necromancer's Dance being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes I could.
Any additional comments?
Good story. I would have enjoyed it more as a read rather than a listen. I could have inserted my own voices for the characters in my head.

Bored to tears and terrible narration
Revisado: 09-21-16
What disappointed you about Beautiful Boy?
I thought the story was boring and lacked detail where it needed it and had too much detail where it didnt need it. The BDSM aspects of the book were overdone to a degree. There was SO much discussion about limits and feelings that it took the edge of off the actual acts I thought.
Has Beautiful Boy turned you off from other books in this genre?
I did not find the content stimulating at all. When it became so the Master character Mal would start asking too many questions or start discussing safe words over and over again. I am all for safe play but only bubble wrap would have made this safer
How could the performance have been better?
The narration was terrible. The lead character Mal was supposed to be a mid 30's hot dom. He sounded like a 78 year old English Aristocrat. All the female voices had such a deep southern drawl to them and sounded the same to me. Not sure why they all sounded like that since no one else had a southern accent.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Terribly disappointed in this book - the reviews were all so good I expected much more
