Historia
Since she was nine years old, Alina Dziak knew she would marry her best friend, Tomasz. Now 15 and engaged, Alina is unconcerned by reports of Nazi soldiers at the Polish border, believing her neighbors that they pose no real threat, and dreams instead of the day Tomasz returns from college in Warsaw so they can be married. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina’s tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. Then, as the fabric of their lives is slowly picked apart, Tomasz disappears.

Amazing story
Revisado: 01-23-24
I have so much to say about this book, it was absolutly one of my favorite books I have "read". I listen to books while I quilt, and this one had me crying while I was sewing. The story is excellent, the reader is excellent. I highly recommend this WW2 historical fiction.

But their 16-year-old son, Adam, has been unusually distant lately, and after the suicide of his classmate, Spencer Hill they can't help but worry. They install a sophisticated spy program on Adam's computer, and within days they are jolted by a message from an unknown correspondent addressed to their son: "Just stay quiet and all safe."

Much better than the mini series
Revisado: 01-14-24
I decided to read this because I had so many unanswered questions after watching the mini series on Netflix. They changed so many things and left out things that made the series not make sense. Glad I read the book

Historia
On October 12, 1972, a plane carrying a team of young rugby players crashed into the remote, snow-peaked Andes. Out of the 45 original passengers and crew, only 16 made it off the mountain alive. For 10 excruciating weeks, they suffered deprivations beyond imagining, confronting nature head-on at its most furious and inhospitable. And to survive, these men and women not only had to keep their faith; they had to make an impossible decision: Should they eat the flesh of their dead friends?

Amazing story of survival
Revisado: 01-06-24
Although cannibiism is not acceptable, I believe under the circumstances, this is the only thing that kept these.survivors alive. The courage to survive from this airplane crash is amazing.

Roots is a groundbreaking story of history and family that spanned continents and touched generations. One of the most important books and television series ever to appear, Roots galvanized the nation and created an extraordinary political, racial, social, and cultural dialogue that hadn’t been seen since the publication of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The book sold more than one million copies in the first year, and the miniseries was watched by an astonishing 130 million people. It also won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

Did not enjoy this book
Revisado: 11-13-23
Why do people take their dogs to Yellowstone? Its so dangerous for pets. Too much repetition about the dog's breed. I am happy they found her, and they should keep her on a leash. I am a Vet Tech, this story made me upset.

Historia
The Titanic collided with an iceberg on the night of April 14, and 1,500 people died in the freezing waters as the ship met her watery grave. Spectacular in many ways, it's a story that has spurred legends and still sends shivers down the spine a century later. This minute-by-minute account of the sinking is based on over 20 years of research and offers amazing detail of that fateful night.

I absolutely loved this book!
Revisado: 05-19-23
if you love medicine and surgery, you will love this book! It is so interesting. I enjoyed learning about all the patients and the process of their health. I am a Veterinary Technician, now retired after 31 years working in Equine Surgery at a University. Such similarities. I will definitely be listening to this again, look for other books by this author.
