Historia
Charming, deadly and smart enough to hide it, Christian Harper is a monster dressed in the perfectly tailored suits of a gentleman. He has little use for morals and even less use for love, but he can't deny the strange pull he feels towards the woman living just one floor below him. She's the object of his darkest desires, the only puzzle he can't solve. And when the opportunity to get closer to her arises, he breaks his own rules to offer her a deal she can't refuse. Every monster has their weakness. She's his. His obsession. His addiction. His only exception.

Great, but felt rushed
Revisado: 05-21-24
I've enjoyed all the books in the Twisted Series. However, this one felt rushed at times. I'm still giving 5 stars, because this is a great story and has an intriguing plot. The plot twist threw me off a bit because I couldn't remember the character. That quite possibly could be my fault. I listen with earbuds, kids around, and life happening for around 60% of any book.
As always, the narrators are phenomenal! Cindy does a wonderful job, but Aiden Snow melts my butter with his deep voice.
I found the spice to be just right. The violent descriptions were okay, but I'm glad they didn't get anymore graphic.

I met Jamie Fraser when I was 19 years old. He was tall, redheaded, and, at our first meeting at least, a virgin. I fell in love hard, fast, and completely. He knew how to ride a horse, wield a sword, and stitch a wound. He was, in fact, the perfect man. That he was fictional hardly entered into it.

Nice, Light Story Despite Some of the Reviews
Revisado: 07-13-23
It took me longer than I liked to "get into" this book. I think it was because the Scottish accent wasn't that good. Honestly, the narrator makes it sound more Russian than Scottish. Thankfully, I was able to look past that as I listened deeper into the story.
The storyline was nice. However, as a late 40- something with lots of life under her belt, I wanted to physically drag Emma from the story and have a heart-to-heart about Hamish. That whole element of the story was pretty frustrating, but not in a bad way, if that makes sense.
I pegged Emma's "Fraser" early on and just waited for the storyline to fall into place.
Overall, this was a nice light read. I'm glad I took the time despite what some of the reviews said.

A Great Ending to a Beautiful Story
Revisado: 04-14-23
I have loved this series. I started reading the Into the Wilderness Series after reading the Outlander Series, not knowing if I could ever fall in love with another author's writing. I absolutely did! I hated to see the series end, and the epilogue for this book was bittersweet. It is a perfect finale to an endearing book series. I will miss it dearly.

Major Russell Johns is being played by puppet-master Gerard Chantier, who hosts the city's most lavish entertainments, attended by members of Lincoln's cabinet and Washington's elite. Little do they know Gerard is coordinating an attack with Confederate general J.E.B. Stuart's cavalry to take over the city, kidnap Lincoln and bring victory to the South.

I may have to read it again...
Revisado: 04-05-23
This book has a nice storyline, but I had a hard time following the politics related to the Civil War. I just feel like I missed something by not knowing more about it. I'm thinking I'll read up a little on the Civil War and try again.
I liked the characters, but I wish there had been a little more romance involved in the relationships. Aside from that, I enjoyed listening.
The narrator's voice is pleasant. The main female character's voice takes a little getting used to, but pleasant nonetheless. There were a few words I felt were mispronounced, but that could've been proper pronunciation for the time period.
Regardless, this was a nice book to listen to, and if you are a Civil War history enthusiast or know more about it than I do, you will no doubt enjoy the listen.

Not enough visual detail...
Revisado: 02-17-23
I started reading this story, wondering what was happening. I made it 30 minutes in and gave up. The first chapter was confusing, I wasn't sure what time period I was in. The context gave one impression, and the speech syntaxes gave another. It just felt off.
I really like visual details in the stories I read. I enjoy being wrapped up in the surroundings of the story and the feeling of "being there." That's not something you get with this one.
The performance was okay. However, I felt it was read a little too fast in some places, and pauses should have been added for dramatic effect in other places.

Great storyline and a "clean" novel!
Revisado: 01-24-23
I fell in love with the main characters of this book. Akira(sp?) and her fella (I won't give it away) have interactions I can relate to. Lol!
I appreciate the cleanliness of the story. I was able to listen with the kids in the room without earbuds.
All around, good love story with good Christian values.
I'm on to the next one soon!
