Historia
At the age of 24, Jordan Barnes woke up next to a lifeless body, rifled through his dead friends’ pockets for any remaining heroin, and went right back to using. Strung out and homeless during the supposed best years of his life, there was no clear way out of the opioid crisis ravaging the streets of Portland, Oregon. But though Jordan had long accepted his fate, his parents still held out hope and would do everything in their power to get him the help he so desperately needed.

Wow!

I have never been so touched from a book.
I decided to download this book because I also had my own struggles and found my way to a positive/clean life. (also live in the same area so that grabbed my attention). I am glad I decided on this book. Great amount of details but never did I feel like it was overboard.
I have so much excitement for Jordan and his family. I feel proud that he found a way to a new life. I have to admit that his parents really grabbed my heart. He has terrific parents and my heart broke for them when listening.
I never thought the ending would be that way- broke my heart. All I could think about is Jordan’s parents. I am a mother and I couldn’t even imagine.
Another part is the sad truth about Portland, OR (I never go downtown and recently did and all I can say is what a sad life..) we are flooded with homeless people just like Jordan explained. Drugs are taking over so many people.
I wish I could have my nephew listen to this book. He also is a addict and I pray he can find his way before it’s not a option anymore.
I would absolutely recommend this book.

Historia
When Misty was six years old, her family started to live and dress like the Amish. Misty and her sister were kept as slaves on a mountain ranch where they were subjected to almost complete isolation, sexual abuse, and extreme physical violence. When Misty reached her teens, her parents feared she and her sister would escape and took them to an Amish community where they were adopted and became baptized members. Misty was devastated to once again find herself in a world of fear, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse.
