Historia
Our surveillance state was born in the brain of Admiral John Poindexter in 1983. Poindexter, President Ronald Reagan's national security adviser, realized that the United States might have prevented the terrorist massacre of 241 Marines in Beirut if only intelligence agencies had been able to analyze in real time data they had on the attackers. Poindexter poured government know-how and funds into his dream---a system that would sift reams of data for signs of terrorist activity.

Emetic agent of a book
Revisado: 08-26-23
Read if you’ve accidentally swallowed poison. I look forward to the next book in this series: glorifying nefarious and disgraced political characters, published by Alternate Reality Press called “Honest Bill Clinton the Faithful Husband”.

Historia
Mystery Babylon is an in-depth look at the prophecy of Revelation 17 and 18. Richardson dissects the longest prophecy in the New Testament in order to make sense of these deeply elusive and profoundly controversial passages. At once a queen, a prostitute, and a cold-blooded killer, this great harlot waves a golden cup filled with blood. Adorned in purple and scarlet and gold and precious stones, she seduces the kings of the earth with luxury.

Horrible Zionist Propaganda
Revisado: 03-15-23
Brutalizes Hislap in a most unchristian and unnecessary fashion. This is a comic book compared to Hislap. Errors, contradictions, hypocrisies, omissions too numerous to mention. Sources are the S. F. Chronicle, Washington Post, Slate, and a CIA agent. Extra-biblical sources galore though he faults Hislap for using ancient historians.

Historia
You may be aware that G. K. Chesterton authored influential Christian biographies and apologetics. But you may not know the larger-than-life Gilbert Keith Chesterton himself - not yet. Equally versed in poetry, novels, literary criticism, and journalism, he addressed politics, culture, and religion with a towering intellect and a soaring wit. Chesterton carried on lively, public discussions with the social commentators of his day, continually challenging them with civility, humility, erudition, and his ever-sharp sense of humor.

Historia
In The Napoleon of Notting Hill, his first novel, G. K. Chesterton creates a witty satire of staid government, set in a London of the future. Auberon Quinn, a common clerk who looks like a cross between a baby and an owl and is often seen standing on his head, is one day told that he has been randomly selected to be His Majesty the King. He decides to turn London into a medieval carnival for his own amusement - with delightful results.

Historia
Evan MacIan is a tall, dark-haired, blue-eyed Scottish Highlander and a devout Roman Catholic. James Turnbull is a short, red-haired, gray-eyed Lowlander and a devout but naïve atheist. The two meet when MacIan smashes the window of the street office where Turnbull publishes an atheist journal. This act of rage occurs when MacIan sees posted on the shop's window a sheet that blasphemes the Virgin Mary, presumably implying she was an adulteress who gave birth to an illegitimate Jesus.

Historia
From Genesis to Job, the Hebrew scriptures contain some of the most influential stories in Western civilization. But what do these stories tell us about daily life in ancient Israel? And why do they still speak to us today? In 24 captivating lectures, Professor Chapman introduces you to the stories of the Judeans in exile and grounds them in their historical context, giving you a grand vision of history as presented in the scriptures.

Scholar Makes Living
Revisado: 02-19-22
Christians will dislike this course if they understand the implications of the Deuteronomistic history and theories. This course is for people interested in people who make a living, publish scholarly papers, vie for acclaim from their equally lost peers and achieve tenure arguing about who wrote the Bible and for what ulterior political motive. Christians don't have these doubts. They believe the Bible is a revelation from God and they use it for salvation, spiritual transformation and learning about their Creator---its proper use. Christians will find the irreverent joke in a later lecture about God loving the smell of Bar-B-Que the same old uncomprehending atheist mockery. The book of Ruth is sullied with lude Shaekespearian double entendre and made a mere romance novel by the professor's modernistic projections. If all you've ever heard is Hindemith, even birdsong brings you wind of it. Her contantly hammering home the obvious fact that the Bible everywhere asserts, that there was "diversity of religious practice" is bizarre unless you understand how important "diversity" is at Oberlin.Yeah, it was diverse---that was the problem! That the professor doesn't understand the primary symbolism of the Abraham/Isaac sacrifice story but uses it for her exile theories is blind, probably willing blindness. Neither does she understand the destruction of the Canaanites (more atheist ignorance) and laughably assumes the moral high ground (in this day and age!) with sneering superiority when she imagines catching God committing a woke sin by prohibiting intermarriage with the child-sacrificing Canaanites. It's sad to see a person studying the Bible their entire life for the wrong reasons and learning nothing. Charles Finney would not approve.

Historia
Bitcoin, a technological breakthrough quietly introduced to the world in 2008, is transforming much more than finance. Bitcoin is disrupting antiquated industries to bring financial independence to billions worldwide. In this book, Andreas explains why bitcoin is a financial and technological evolution with potential far exceeding the label "digital currency."

Apologetics are more interesting when challenged.
Revisado: 02-15-22
I'm a crypto fan. Guy recommended this book. I did learn more pro-blockchain talking points and jargon, increased my understanding on the topic. I wanted it to be a little more technical, but maybe I should be careful what I wish for.
The scope of the talks is narrow, mostly comparing and contrasting blockchain technology to legacy financial systems, completely ignoring any potentially negative effects, socially or otherwise, which seemed a little strange given his obvious exposure to McLuhan.
I have to remember the book is 5 years old before I chuckle at his optimism regarding fees for transferring Bitcoin. A roll of quarters at the bank is still 10 dollars. Crypto exchanges rob you buying, selling and transferring. Really, worse than a bank.
I'm not a fan of his technological determinism, nor his naive unalloyed optimism. I wonder if he still believes in decentralization in the age of whale manipulation. I wonder if he believes atomic, biological gain of function, or climate change omelets can be eggs once more.
He who regulates (SEC) dominates. If you have to ask for Bitcoin to be legal---it's a Master/Slave relationship. Saints preserve us from technophiles who, having obtained specialized knowledge in one field think that qualifies them to dictate the future course of humanity.
