David Freed’s Deep Fury has been a long time coming, I think around nearly eight years, and it was absolutely worth the wait. As the seventh entry in the Cordell Logan Mysteries series, it brings us back into the world of the sharp-tongued, self-deprecating former government assassin turned flight instructor. This time, the stakes are as high as ever, and the journey is nothing short of exhilarating.

The story begins in classic Logan style: with a bizarre, jaw-dropping incident. A naked man falls from the sky and crashes through the roof of a mobile home. That man is Pete Hostetler, a toy company executive and, more importantly, one of Logan’s old Air Force Academy classmates and a trusted wingman from Desert Storm. But what initially seems like an odd and tragic accident quickly turns into something far more sinister. As Logan digs deeper into Pete’s death, he uncovers a tangle of lies, dangerous secrets, and a side of his old friend he never saw coming.

Mr. Freed’s writing is as sharp and engaging as ever. He masterfully blends Cordell’s sardonic humor with a captivating mystery that keeps you guessing at every turn. Logan is always compelling and I love every second spent in his company, but what makes this installment even more intriguing is the dynamic between him and his current partner, Layne Sterling. Their chemistry is natural and understated, and it adds an emotional depth to the story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Ray Porter is one of the best narrators in the audiobook industry and once again delivers a phenomenal performance, cementing himself as the perfect voice for Cordell Logan. His ability to bring the characters to life, capture Logan’s dry humor, and maintain the tension during action-packed moments is nothing short of extraordinary. Mr.Porter handles Layne’s character with finesse, giving her a strong, confident voice that complements Logan’s without overshadowing him. Listening to this audiobook feels less like hearing a narration and more like being immersed in a perfectly performed production.

After waiting so long for this audiobook, I couldn’t stop once I hit play—I devoured it in one session. Mr. Freed’s ability to craft a fast-paced, multi-layered mystery is on full display here. The plot twists are expertly executed, and the resolution is both surprising and deeply satisfying. What stands out most, though, is Freed’s knack for blending high-stakes suspense with moments of genuine heart and humor.

Deep Fury is a masterclass in mystery writing and a stellar addition to the Cordell Logan series. It’s witty, suspenseful, and emotionally resonant, with characters you can’t help but root for. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the series, this audiobook is a must-listen. Freed and Porter make an unbeatable team, and I can only hope it won’t be another eight years before we hear from Cordell Logan again.

For flawless writing and perfect narration, Deep Fury gets my highest praise: the Editor’s Choice Award for Excellence in Entertainment. This award celebrates the exceptional cooperation between author and narrator, which always elevates the narrative experience to the highest level of immersion and entertainment as humanly possible and it is given to oth of them together.
Congratulations and thank you for the entertainment!

Horizon: The Frozen Planet Trilogy, Book 1 will be right up your alley if you’re into Star Trek Enterprise, Battlestar Galactica, or the kind of creeping dread that the Dead Space games deliver. David W. Adams opens this trilogy with a fast-paced, carefully crafted sci-fi horror that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go. At just under five hours, this audiobook uses every minute to pull you deeper into its brutal, relentless world, leaving you wanting for more.

The story follows the crew of the Odyssey, who are out of options and chasing a last, desperate rumor about The Horizon – a mysterious place said to return people to their happiest moments. With every colony and planet they know either destroyed or abandoned, this faint hope is all they’ve got. But to get there, they have to cross The Expanse, an endless stretch of dead space with no stars, no planets, just darkness. And soon enough, they realize that even empty space can hide something dangerous. Mr. Adams keeps the tension high and the twists unpredictable, with dangers hiding in every shadow and a palpable sense of fear that builds with every scene.

Narrator Brandon J. Peterson, who also produced this audiobook, does an incredible job bringing the story to life. His narration nails each character’s intensity and vulnerability, letting you feel every bit of their fear and desperation. I absolutely love his narration and voices range. After I listened to over 1,500 audiobooks this is something that rarely happens. Plus, the sound quality is top-notch, with eerie effects woven through the narration to keep you immersed without overdoing it.

Horizon is a gripping, atmospheric listen – one that’s as thrilling as it is haunting. For anyone who loves dark, suspenseful sci-fi with a hard edge, this is a must listen! I’m already eager for the next book as this trilogy is shaping up to be something special.

I am a blind audiobook reviewer, so if you found this review interesting I hope you will consider leaving a helpful vote below. Most audiobooks I receive for free for review purposes. Thank you! Take care, stay safe, and don't forget, always listen with your heart.

The Courtship of Eva Eldridge is the kind of audiobook that stays with you long after it’s over. Diane Simmons takes a real-life story and turns it into an immersive journey through the 1950s – a time when marriage was seen as the be-all and end-all for women. Eva Eldridge’s life, full of love, betrayal, and heartbreak, reflects the weight of those expectations in a society obsessed with the ideal of marriage. Simmons’ writing stands out because she effortlessly draws you into Eva’s personal drama while also making you think about the bigger societal issues at play.

Kimberly Conwell’s narration is great! You feel like you’re walking alongside Eva, experiencing her highs and lows. Conwell doesn’t just tell Eva’s story, she brings out the emotion in every moment without overplaying it, which makes the whole experience feel so much more intimate and real. Her voice carries both the vulnerability and strength in Eva’s character, and that balance really resonated with me. It’s the kind of performance that makes you forget you’re listening to an audiobook – you’re just living the story.

One of the things I appreciated most about The Courtship of Eva Eldridge is how Simmons uses Eva’s life to touch on broader themes that still feel relevant today. You can sense the pressure on Eva to conform to what society expected of her, and the consequences of stepping outside those lines. Diane Simmons handles this with so much empathy, never casting judgment on Eva or the women of her time, but instead giving us a nuanced look at the impossible choices they faced.

The audiobook format really elevates the whole experience. Kimberly Conwell’s narration brings depth to the historical context, making it easier to connect with Eva’s personal struggles while also understanding the larger societal pressures.

If you enjoy stories that blend personal drama with historical insight, The Courtship of Eva Eldridge is a must-listen. It’s a deeply human story about a woman trying to find her way in a world that expected her to fit a mold. It left me thinking about how far we’ve come, and how stories like Eva’s still resonate today

Michael Connelly has done it again with The Waiting, another superb addition to the Harry Bosch and Renée Ballard series of unputdownable police procedurals. This latest novel once again showcases his unparalleled storytelling talent, which, as always, is at its absolute finest. From the very first scene, the novel grips you with its intricate plot and never lets go. This is Connelly at his best, and there’s truly no one better in the crime thriller genre!

As a longtime fan of the series, I’ve listened to multiple entries more times than I can count, and every year I eagerly await each new installment with the same level of excitement. The Waiting does not disappoint. Its pacing, tension, and emotional depth create an experience that feels like catching up with old friends, all while unraveling a new and thrilling mystery.

Another highlight of this audiobook is its outstanding narration. The trio of top-notch actors and narrators—Christine Lakin, Titus Welliver, and Madison Lintz—deliver a performance that elevates the listening experience to an all-time high. Their voices perfectly capture the intensity and complexity of the characters, making the story even more immersive and personal. Whether it’s Lakin’s portrayal of Ballard, Welliver’s iconic voice as Bosch, or Lintz bringing Maddie Bosch to life, each of them brings something unique and fantastic to this audio production.

If you’re already a fan of Connelly’s work, you’ll love this latest entry, and if you’re new, this will convince you to check out the entire series. Either way, The Waiting is an unmissable audiobook that will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more.

Although I enjoyed the audiobook tremendously, now I’m sad that I’ve finished The Waiting—because now, my waiting begins for the next novel in this unique series!
For flawless writing and perfect narration, The Waiting gets my highest praise: the Editor’s Choice Award for Excellence in Entertainment. This award celebrates the exceptional cooperation between author and narrators, which always elevates the narrative experience to the highest level of immersion and entertainment as humanly possible and it is given to all of them together.

Some Thing Borrowed is a gripping and immersive audio production that will captivate fans of supernatural thrillers and audio dramas alike. Adapted from the wildly popular Reddit short story There’s A Woman I Don’t Recognize In My Wedding Photos by Blair Daniels, this audiobook enriches the genre with its fascinating concept of an Audio Film.

With the skilled narration of Jeff Dylan Garrett and an incredible full cast, the story unfolds nicely, creating just the right atmosphere that pulls listeners into such a thrilling, cinematically auditory journey.

From the first few minutes, the audio effects and rich sound design create an eerie, tension-that enhances the chilling tale of Cassie, a newlywed whose life takes a terrifying turn. The curse of the haunted barrette, passed down by her mother-in-law, is a smart plot idea that keeps the story interesting and adds a layer of suspense and horror that will keep listeners immersed.

The successful combination of audiobook narration with the drama and energy of a full cast performance makes Some Thing Borrowed really stand out.

Like other productions of its kind, Some Thing Borrowed is more than just an audiobook. It feels like a theatre for the mind, where each voice and sound effect transports the listener deeper into the unsettling world the author created. At just two hours in duration, it’s the perfect length for a tightly woven, edge-of-your-seat experience that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

For fans of haunting, psychological thrillers with a supernatural twist, Some Thing Borrowed is a must-listen. It delivers on every level, from its scary plot to its masterful audio production, making it unmissable for fans of the genre.

T.J. Newman, an internationally bestselling author and one of my favorite new writers, has captivated me endlessly once again with her latest entertaining story, Worst Case Scenario. After discovering her work last year through Mr. Don Winslow on Twitter, I eagerly picked up her previous two thrilling novels, Falling and Drowning, and was thoroughly delighted by them. As it usually happens when I fall in love with someone’s writing, I couldn’t wait to dive into Worst Case Scenario, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

I pre-ordered the audiobook version immediately after its release, and yesterday, when I got the email from Audible that my purchase can be enjoyed, I had planned to listen to a few chapters. However, I was so engrossed in the story that I couldn’t stop and ended up spending eight and a half hours of my day devouring the entire audiobook, which felt like a mere blink of an eye.

The novel follows a heart-pounding scenario where a commercial airliner crashes into a nuclear power plant in the small town of Waketa, Minnesota. From there, the situation escalates into a national crisis with global implications, reaching a level of disaster that has never been witnessed before.

What truly sets this book apart is T.J. Newman’s exceptional character development. She doesn’t just focus on the disaster itself, but also on the everyday heroes who find themselves in the midst of this unimaginable situation. The power plant workers, firefighters, teachers, families, neighbors, lifelong friends, and even complete strangers become characters that I found myself deeply invested in. I felt their fears, hopes, and determination as they faced an insurmountable challenge.

American actor Joe Morton delivers a captivating performance in this unpauseable audio production. His narration of Worst Case Scenario elevates the narrative to new heights of entertainment. Morton’s powerful and dynamic voice perfectly captures the tension and emotion of each scene, drawing listeners into the story.

Known for his award-winning performances on stage and screen, including his role as Eli Pope on Scandal, Morton’s deep and resonant voice lends a natural depth to the audiobook. His ability to convey both the gravity of the situation and the humanity of the characters adds a profound emotional resonance to the story.

Worst Case Scenario is not just a thrilling read that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It’s an epic tale of the human spirit’s strength and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. The story leaves a lasting impact, inspiring readers to find hope and heroism even in the darkest moments.

If you’re seeking a gripping and emotionally resonant read, Worst Case Scenario should be at the top of your reading list.

Affairs of State is a brand new, thrilling, fast-paced, and entertaining political thriller from rising author C.A. James and his award-winning narrator Timothy Andrés Pabon.

As a huge fan of legendary authors of the genre like Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum, I found Affairs of State to be a gripping narrative experience that kept me entertained and interested long into the night.

The story pulled me in right away as it follows First Lady Elizabeth Caen as she discovers a shocking conspiracy involving the President of the United States. With little evidence to back her claims, she faces the most impossible task of revealing the dark truth to the world. Her only friend in this dangerous mission is Owen, a Silicon Valley computer guru who leads a secret double life as a hacker.

But, as always with stories like these, it seems that the two of them have bitten off more than they can chew, so their lives are now in peril as they are hunted by unknown actors. The technical terms related to hacking add an extra layer of authenticity and immersion, making the cutthroat world of powerful politicians and corrupt individuals both terrifying and fascinating.

With over 500 audiobooks to his name, seven Earphone Awards, and as a nominee for both the prestigious Audie and SOVAS Awards, actor and bilingual narrator Timothy Andrés Pabon is the perfect choice for this audio production! He has been seen on House of Cards as Mark, a White House press correspondent, so I guess that he felt right at home recording this story.

His narration is outstanding, balanced, and pitch-perfect. He reads, he acts, and he infuses the story with emotion and urgency.

For anyone who enjoys political thrillers, Affairs of State is not to be missed. The plot is intriguing, the characters are well-developed, and the action moves at a perfect pace. If you’re looking for a captivating story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this audiobook is a great choice.

Tree Pose is the third entry in the gripping Crime Noire Yoga Mat Mysteries series by the exceptionally talented, internationally recognized & award-winning authors Susan Rogers and John Roosen.

This audiobook is another suspenseful and engaging addition to the series, bringing a story filled with emotion, strong character development, and mysteries, complemented by comic relief that appears just at the right moments.

Following the excellent Dead Man’s Pose and Cobra Pose, Tree Pose delights and entertains with its beautiful writing style, lifelike characters, vivid descriptions, and impeccable narration.

Get ready for a thrilling ride alongside Elaina Williams, our favorite yoga teacher, who once again teams up with Ric Peters, a photojournalist who definitely does not shoot only pictures, for a work vacation to Tasmania that quickly turns into a deadly cat-and-mouse game.

Ric harbors a dark secret that he believes will end his budding relationship with Elaina, but when both of them become targets of unknown assailants, he is ready to come clean. With a series of unfortunate events following our heroes from location to location, before he can tell the truth about his past life, he needs to stay alive.

Add to this a well-researched wonderfully tantalizing plot involving a human trafficking ring, a ruthless hitman, and some corrupt individuals, and prepare for a breathtaking rollercoaster of action and adventure that will leave you wanting more.

Rupert Degas, the renowned voice actor who has recorded over 400 audiobooks to date, returns to this series and once again brings all our beloved characters to life with emotion and talent, in a flawless performance. Mr. Degas has a smooth and captivating voice that draws you into this adventure, making you feel like part of it. He also excels in creating distinct and realistic voices for each character, using different accents and tones to convey their emotions and multifaceted personalities. I was once again impressed and entertained by his versatility and skill as he switches from one character to another with ease and consistency.

After listening to these three audiobooks comprising the Yoga Mat Mysteries series so far, I can say without a doubt that it quickly became one of my favorites. I am eagerly anticipating Warrior Pose – Book 4, and Half Moon Pose – Book 5, both of which are currently under production and set to be released as soon as possible.

With Tree Pose, I noticed numerous moments where the flawless writing was beautifully complemented by the sublime performance, leading me to award it my Editor’s Choice Award for Excellence in Entertainment. This award celebrates the exceptional cooperation between author and narrator, which always elevates the narrative experience to the highest level of immersion and entertainment as humanly possible and it is accorded to them together.

Congratulations and thank you for the entertainment!

Doctor Lucifer is a gripping medical thriller that marks an excellent debut for author Anthony Lee. With a plot that weaves through the precarious intersections of medical practice and cyber threats, this audiobook is a compelling listen from start to finish.
The protagonist, Dr. Mark Lin, is a refreshing take on the antihero archetype, and his battle against the enigmatic Doctor Lucifer is both thrilling and thought-provoking.
The novel's exploration of the vulnerabilities in our digital age is timely and unsettling, posing questions about privacy, security, and the ethics of technology in healthcare.
Anthony Lee's writing is fast, vivid, engaging, entertaining and confident. His narration is excellent as well and not just a reading, but a performance that brings the story's tension and the characters' complexities to life with emotion and talent.
His extensive background in medicine enriches the narrative with an extra layer of authenticity that fans of the medical genre will assuredly appreciate.
Without me giving away any spoilers, I can tell you that listeners can expect a journey filled with suspense, unexpected turns, and a deep dive into the psyche of a doctor fighting against an unseen enemy, while at the same time battling his inner demons. I recommend that you check out the publisher’s summary if you want to learn more about the story and also listen to the audio sample in order to make a better impression of how Mr. Lee narrates.
Anthony Lee has indeed crafted a first-rate thriller with Doctor Lucifer, setting a high bar for his future novels and I eagerly anticipate his next work. If you're looking for an audiobook that offers both an adrenaline rush and a mirror to our modern world's challenges, look no further than Doctor Lucifer.
