A most excellent beginning
Revisado: 09-29-23
This book has been out long enough that we need to stop saying it’s a prequel and call it volume 1, as it isn’t to be missed.
The audiobook is worth more than you’ll spend on it. The narration is pitch perfect and a great listen.

Two Writings Degrees … how did my teachers miss this gem
Revisado: 06-16-23
This should be required reading/listening for all writers of fiction. This book gives the best crash course on how and why characters (and the conflict generated by their particular selves) fuel stories. I wish I had read it when I started writing in high school.

Historia
Six million years ago, at the very dawn of the starfaring era, Abigail Gentian fractured herself into a thousand male and female clones: the shatterlings. Sent out into the galaxy, these shatterlings have stood aloof as they document the rise and fall of countless human empires. They meet every 200,000 years to exchange news and memories of their travels with their siblings.

My Favorite Book
Revisado: 08-22-19
Why Alastair Reynolds hasn’t expanded this universe, I’ll never understand. This book gives us great characters (several of them from new branches of evolved humanity, as well as robots/Ai) , a story that keeps you reading “just one more page,” and an ending that, while perfect, makes you ache for more of the world you’re done visiting.

From the author of the blockbuster best seller The Game: a shockingly personal, surprisingly relatable, brutally honest memoir in which the celebrated dating expert confronts the greatest challenge he has ever faced: monogamy and fidelity.

Life Changing
Revisado: 07-15-16
I never expected a book about alternative relationships written be the guy who wrote the pick up artist bible "The Game" to impact me so much.
The Truth starts off as an exploration of a sex addict trying to find peace with his addiction but by the end we find a man exploring his own broken soul. Thank you Neil for being so honest, so stupid, so brave.

Life Changing
Revisado: 10-28-15
I listened to this book on the way down to LA from San Francisco. Usually the drive requires switching back between audiobook, music, and an occasional phone call. But I couldn't stop listening. Life in the Festivals is more than a book about dance parties, drugs, modern hippies, and transformationals ... It's a book about a better way to live, and strangely, it has nothing to do with escaping reality (in spite of all the drug use mentioned in the book).
