Historia
Eric - part-time king, quasi-avatar, and unconventional wizard - has an epic quest before him. He must return to his lost kingdom to save it, slay a creature claiming to be a god, and navigate the terrible risks of a paradox that could undo everything! And to top it off, he's trying to raise a daughter. Nobody said being a vampire was going to be easy, but none of this was in the brochure!

An epic journey of endless boredom!
Revisado: 07-21-21
Let me start by saying I love (or loved) this series, but I absolutely cannot recommend this book. If it doesn't put you into a fugue, I don't know what will. It's nothing more than a bunch of endless ramblings to nowhere. Subplots start, then stop, then start, then stop with no conclusion. It's a 40 hour rambling about the firmament and his daughter. Both of which are topics that lead to nowhere.

Meh...
Revisado: 05-24-18
After hearing great things about this series I was excited to finally give it a listen. The narration is superb, unfortunately, that's the only superb thing about this series. I'm halfway through book 3 and I think I'm going to bail. I'm a huge fan of the genre. I've listened to the Arisen series by Michael Stephen Fuches (the best in the genre!), James Cook's Surviving the Dead series (great characters), Tufo's Zombie Fallout series (hilarious), The Remaining series by D.J. Molles (very dark), Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne (different), and others. Of them all, I'd rank Mountain Man at the bottom of a very long list.
The main characters are topical, cliche, and very forgettable. I could honestly care less if they if they were all killed off. At some point, a zombie story needs to become about the characters with the zombie's becoming nothing more than extras. This omnibus is nothing but skull crushing and meaningless dialogue that doesn't move the story in any worthwhile direction.
I guess it's worth a credit just to hear Bray narrate for 27 hours, outside of that, if you're a serious fan of the genre, your credits, and time, are better spent elsewhere. That is unless you want to hear about the 800 different ways a bat can crush a zombie skull!

A bit of a slow starter
Revisado: 03-18-16
I think Gregg Hurwitz is a brilliant writer but this story is a bit slow starter. All I'm going to say is that if you're willing to tough it out through the first third of the book you'll find it worth it in the end.

The Earth lies shaken in the aftermath of a conspiracy. Some of the smartest minds on the planet have striven for and died in an effort to scour the skies of four vast alien satellites, but their success has brought a terrible vengeance down upon us. Historia
The world's last floating nuclear supercarrier looks into the face of oblivion as her thinned, exhausted, and beleaguered crew face the largest herd of dead ever recorded. Soon the ship's five-acre flight deck will become the scene of a furious and desperate set-piece battle - like no combat any modern army has seen since Stalingrad. The ranks of the dead are infinite, and those of the living are tiny, depleted, and running out of time...and of hope.

Wow!
Revisado: 10-05-15
I just finished Exodus and all I can say is wow! I have listened to almost every book/series in the zombie genre, and in my opinion, this book has catapulted the Arisen series to the number one spot. It is simply the best of the best. The writing is exceptional, the characters have great depth, and with R.C. Bray as the narrator you just can't go wrong. I highly recommend this book and those that precede it.

Not bad if there's nothing left in your wish list
Revisado: 06-15-15
To say that I didn't enjoy this book would be unfair. I did, and I'm already on book 3 in the series. But honestly, these books are so far fetched that at times it becomes unbearable. If you can get over this fact then you'll enjoy the series.
An Air Force undercover agent (OSI) and a gunny from the Marine Corps kill some bad guys in Afghanistan. Next thing you know they've been recruited to work for a special task force that's solely overseen by the National Security Adviser. Apparently they are the only people he can trust in the entirety of the U.S Government! If you can get over things like that then you'll "probably" enjoy this book/series.
The second issue I have is with the narration. Tom Weiner is not the best narrator. All of the bad guys sound like they are talking through their nose and the narrators Arabic inflections sound cartoony. Actually it doesn't sound Arabic at all.
If you've exhausted the all of the series below give this one a shot. You just might enjoy it.
1. John Wells series by Alex Berenson
2. Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn
2. Dewey Andreas Series by Ben Coes
3. Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Mayberry
4. Pike Logan series by Brad Taylor
5. Sniper Elite series by Scott McEwen, Thomas Koloniar
6. Jack Ryan Jr. series by Tom Clancy and others
7. Scot Harvath Series by Brad Thor

The best so far...
Revisado: 08-26-14
First let me start off by saying I'm glad Guy Williams returned to read this volume. Though I thought the narrator of book 3 was serviceable- the series is much better with Guy on the mic. That being said, this to me was the best book in the series. I plowed through the last 5 hours of the book non-stop which is rarely something I find myself doing! The book is centered around Gabe which at first had me concerned as I'm a big fan of Eric and his story. Nevertheless it was an amazing story that adds a lot to Gabe's character and the series overall.
