Historia
Girls team up to overthrow the kingdom in this unique and powerful retelling of Cinderella from a stunning new voice that’s perfect for fans of A Curse So Dark and Lonely. It’s 200 years after Cinderella found her prince, but the fairy tale is over. Teen girls are now required to appear at the Annual Ball, where the men of the kingdom select wives based on a girl’s display of finery. If a suitable match is not found, the girls not chosen are never heard from again.

Absolutely beautiful and creative story
Revisado: 03-19-22
This story was stunning. It was so beautiful, creative, and just wonderful. It definitely made my list of top five favorite books of all time (and I’ve read a lot of books). Would recommend anyone read this.
The narrator however, I wasn’t a fan of her voice at all. I had to get use to it and I feel like her voice did not match the main character.

Kinda boring, power dynamic problems, and more
Revisado: 03-19-22
So the narrator was great.
The book however was boring. I’m not sure if it’s just not my type of genre but it seemed to just go on and on. I was interested enough to read the second book.
I also felt like Ayla and Criers relationship had a horrible power imbalance that was not fair at all to Ayla. This was not really addressed as an issue in the book. It was really weird and felt kinda like Ayla could’ve been manipulated into a relationship. It gave off Stockholm syndrome vibes. but that could just be me who sees that or I’m missing something.
I also felt like the main characters had no personality. They’re personalities were not at all illustrated in my opinion.
That being said I did read the second book so it did keep me interested enough.

Worth reading ig
Revisado: 10-20-21
So the duology wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t amazing either. I felt like the characters in general but especially two main characters, crier and Ayla, both weren’t painted to have much a individual personality. The story was confusing and boring and a little to descriptive in some areas. It was a very monotone book. That being said, it wasn’t that bad and it’s worth a read especially if war like books is your vibe. Many ppl said it was queerbaitish but I don’t see it. While I Ioved Ayla’s and criers relationship grow and play out (especially on aylas part) the first book I felt like their was a huge power inbalance that made it a little uncomfortable, and no one ever talked about it. Anyways, it was a decent and creative book. 6/10
