Historia
Makoto Saigo is half-American and half-Japanese in small-town Japan with a set of talents limited to playing guitar and picking fights. With rock stardom off the table, he turns toward the only place where you can start from the bottom and move up through sheer merit, loyalty, and brute force―the yakuza. Saigo, nicknamed “The Tsunami”, quickly realizes that even within the organization, opinions are as varied as they come, and a clash of philosophies can quickly become deadly. One screw-up can cost you your life, or at least a finger.

If you haven’t read the author’s books on the Japanese underworld I highly recommend all of them. They are real and unvarnished.

A classic I had only seen the tv version of
Revisado: 01-02-25
This is a classic golden era mystery. Not a cozy mystery though it shares many of what has become that modern trope. It contains periods opinions and prejudices that would be very out of place in a modern novel written for modern sensibilities. This story is spoiled however by the narrator. Although this is a story featuring Harriet Vane her reading fails to engage and does not do the story justice.

Started well then the woo took over.
Revisado: 08-26-24
The problem with this book is that the opening sounds well thought out and provides what appears to be a great solution that many people are looking for. Unfortunately the decent into unsupported fantasy in the later chapters make me totally distrust anything in the earlier chapters. There maybe some good material here. Unfortunately it is lost by the end along with any trust that I may have had in the author.

Thank you Soraya, for writing this beautiful story. Yes, you’re right. It needed to be told. A story like this helps seat this information more firmly into the public consciousness, In so many parts of the world now this is much needed. There are many Polish Jews in my family And I give thanks to you.

A fun historical mystery with a slightly strange disjointed structure. I wasn’t sure who the main character was. I’ll be listening to the remainder of the series as I suspect they will get better.

Find an online course
Schedule regular practice
Figure out what motivates you to help keep up your momentum.
