Could not follow the plot

I became a fan of Andy Weir after listening to Project Hail Mary. However, this one was not for me. I could not follow the plot and did not understand why the protagonist was doing what she was doing the whole time. The ending was also very anticlimactic. It"s a shame because Rosario Dawson does a great job at narrating. If only the story made more sense...

I loved Part 1 and love Part 2 even more, if possible. This is such a good way to experience the world of Navarre all over again, even if you"ve read the book or listened to the original audiobook. Highly recommend!

I listened to the regular audiobook first, and then found this dramatized adaptation and it completely blew my mind. It"s like listening to Fourth Wing getting made into a movie. The sound effects and music add to the story, and the different narrators for each character were so good! I know some reviews say that certain characters" voices were annoying, but you can"t please them all right? Everyone has their own version of what Violet, Xaden, or Dain"s voice should sound like. I highly recommend this to any fantasy book readers. It"s a whole new way of experiencing Fourth Wing.

I absolutely loved this sequel just as much as the first book. The story kept me captivated the whole time and I"m just amazed at how much depth Leigh Bardugo gives her characters. I thought I had learned everyone"s pasts after the first book, but this one just kept unraveling each character even more. I found the voice of Wylan to be a bit annoying though; it just didn"t seem like it fit him. Other than that, the other narrators did a fantastic job and I really enjoyed this experience. It was like listening to a TV show with the most eccentric characters thrown together to pull off yet another near-impossible heist.

Better than the Grisha Trilogy!

I decided to listen to this because I watched the "Shadow and Bone" Netflix series and was curious about the Crows. The story of each of these characters proved to be so much more captivating and thrilling than the Grisha Trilogy. I liked that it was told in the perspective of each of the six characters with a different narrator voicing each character. It made me feel like I was listening to a TV show with each character taking turns telling the story while also revealing bits and pieces about their shadowed pasts. The plot moved quickly and there was not a boring part throughout the book. I can"t wait for the sequel!

I read this series almost 10 years ago and suddenly wanted to pick it up again, so I decided to listen to the audiobook. I really love this trilogy because of all the character development and constant bantering between the characters. Whether it was between Kell and Rhy, Kell and Lila, Lila and Alucard, and even Kell and Holland, the dialogue and relationship building draws me in, not to mention the magic! I especially liked that each book was dedicated to each character: the first about Kell, the second about Lila, and the third about Holland. It was enlightening to hear about Holland‘s past and the world of White London and how he succumbed to the enticing pull of Osaron"s black magic. Overall, I think the narrators did a great job of voicing the different characters, especially alternating between the different story arcs. It was an interesting way to relive the trilogy through the audiobook. I was not disappointed in my second time around and I might even read it again a third time in a few years.

Interesting concept but didn"t have me hooked

I liked the overall concept of the story and the cultural references to the Chinese afterlife. However, it just didn"t have me hooked. The protagonist, Li Lan, wasn"t very moving and I didn"t feel any emotional connection to her. I was more intrigued by her nanny, Amah, because of how much she cares for Li Lan, her unwavering loyalty to the Pan family, and her various superstitions about the afterlife. I also enjoyed the accurate depictions of herbal soups and regional dishes, especially because they were all pronounced and described correctly! Then I watched the Netflix series based on this and I enjoyed that a tad bit more than the book, maybe because the Netflix series starts deviating from the novel in the second episode. Overall, it was different from the novels I normally read, so I"m glad I tried it but I wouldn"t recommend it.

I watched the movie when it first came out without having read the book and thought it was good but not great. Then I finally got around to reading the book and absolutely loved it. The details of how to get each key and through each gate were so fun to follow along. Even though I didn"t get a lot of the 80s references, I could imagine how exciting it must be to relive your favorite movie/song/video game of that decade. The movie was a very shortened version of the book and didn"t do it justice. Just read the book instead!

A friend recommended this to me and I had no idea what to expect. From the title alone, I thought it was a Victorian-era story about some queen or royal. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the seven husbands belonged to a 1960s Hollywood movie actress. I was also shocked by the ending but thought it was the perfect conclusion to the dramatic, scandalous, and tragic love lives of Evelyn Hugo.

A poignant, touching novel for the Asian American millennial

A friend recommended this to me and I went in with no expectations on what this book was going to be about. I immediately liked it because it centered around an Asian American growing up in a competitive high school environment, trying to get into the best college possible. As the story developed, I couldn’t really figure out what the actual plot was. There’s a lot of character development with Danny, his two best friends, his parents, and even within himself. I felt the middle kind of dragged on a bit, but then the story really picked up at the end, at which point I was hooked. I really enjoyed the ending and would recommend this book to any Asian American millennial.
