Historia
He slips into their homes at night and walks silently into bedrooms where women lie sleeping, unaware of the horrors they soon will endure. The precision of the killer"s methods suggests he is a deranged man of medicine, propelling the Boston newspapers and the frightened public to name him "The Surgeon". The cops" only clue rests with another surgeon, the victim of a nearly identical crime. Two years ago, Dr. Catherine Cordell fought back and killed her attacker before he could complete his assault.

Great Suspense, But Rizzoli?
Revisado: 12-30-24
Overall, the suspense of this story is off the charts.
I was only familiar with Rizzoli from the TV series, Rizzoli & Isles before reading The Surgeon. What vastly different characters Tess Gerritsen, and the TV script writers have created. She is such an unlikable character in this novel. And, Gerritsen provides little to redeem her. Rizzoli and the other female MC, Dr Catherine Cordell, seemingly polar opposites, share much in their fights to not be defined by the actions, and opinions of men, and ultimately are each other’s savior from death. I wait to see if Rizzoli is further redeemed in the following series’ volumes.

Spectacular Dialogue
Revisado: 12-26-24
I loved this beautifully narrated tale. At times, the mood, and setting reminded me of films such as To Catch a Thief. But, not having the time constraints of film, Art of the Chase provides a richer story. It has greater depth due to more complex character development, and plot. It is an engaging, entertaining sapphic mystery/romance.

Revisado: 12-02-24
Jen Lyon addresses an important issue, and does it well over the course of this compelling story. Her well developed characters draw the reader into their fictional lives. I shared their joy, love, frustration, anger, fears, sorrows, and despair. The Unfinished Line ending is unusual. The author’s afterword is definitely worth the read/listen. It provides insight into Lyon’s creative process, and motivation for writing this book.

Suspenseful, Engaging
Revisado: 03-31-24
There is no romance threaded through this police procedural crime drama. Settling on the correct suspect, and recognizing - proving how a series of murders are connected is the driving theme. I liked the frank depiction of investigative errors that can occur, as well as the strain a detective’s job has on personal relationships.

Gritty, Yet Engrossing Story
Revisado: 02-09-24
Out of Control introduced me to lots of new sexually connotated words and phrases. What did I do before search engines? GR Browda gives the reader a look at the more salacious lifestyles of San Franciscans. The characters are interesting, and I look forward to further development of them. For me, the POV was not always clear. And, I found it difficult to determine which character’s experience was being described in some scenes. Meg Price does an excellent job narrating.
