Fun mix of paranormal in modern London
Revisado: 09-13-24
Wonderful story that takes place in modern London about a newbie police constable, Peter, who discovers he can see ghosts. He meets and starts working with a mentor (the head of the department that deals with any paranormal crimes) who teaches the Peter about magic and the old ways. The narrator was lovely but I slowed the speed down slightly to catch all the interesting details.

Fantastic five star story and romance!
Revisado: 08-27-24
I loved everything about this book. The main characters were flawed but mature and the narration was fantastic. Sophie and Mick used humor (I smiled a lot while listening to this story) and were straightforward with one another. There were many moments of touching vulnerability that made my heart squeeze and soar. There wasn’t any fake angst, miscommunication or contrived story plot. It was just two people with imperfections (like all of us in real life). What I appreciated most was how the characters were self aware and tried to live their best lives despite these “imperfections“ (social anxiety & asthma in Sophie’s case and harsh facial features and celiac disease in Mick’s case). It was a lovely story that gave me all the good feels!🥰

Sweet story but too long
Revisado: 08-23-24
I loved Bull, the sweet, sexy romantic dairy farmer. Scarlett was likable but it was difficult to believe that a gossip reporter for a sleazy TV show would be happy on a dairy farm in small town Vermont. It was a sweet, slow burn but there was a lot of redundancy. The character’s concerns and fears were expressed over and over again. It’s filler content that added nothing new to the story so I skipped ahead a lot. It was really annoying but, if you can tolerate the constant repetition of feelings, the story was still worth a listen.

Historia
As a child, Devlin Ware thought his family stood for all that was right and good in the world. They were kind, gracious, and shared the beauty of Ravenwood, their grand country estate, by hosting lavish parties for the entire countryside. But at 22, he discovered his whole world was an elaborate illusion, and when Devlin publicly called his family to account for it, he was exiled as a traitor. So be it. He enlisted in the fight against Napoleon and didn't look back for six years. But now his father is dead, the Ware family is broken, and as the heir he is being called home.

Boring, loads of trivial detail and frustrating MMC
Revisado: 06-02-24
The story is loaded with inconsequential detail. The story line is all about one incident that negatively impacts an otherwise great family. Delvin, the future Earl, is portrayed as a rigid, rule abiding character. He is written so that the reader should sympathize with him but, honestly, he had a loving family that he himself implodes. I thought he was a self righteous hypocrite. He blames his father for being unfaithful yet “rule abiding” Devlin sleeps with his leading lady before marriage in garden house as he tells her that he can’t love her. It was frustrating how inconsistent his character behaved. I would pass on this one.

Historia
Addie Byler may be Apple Creek's resident wallflower, but she knows she has a lot to offer—and much to be grateful for. Raised by her loving grandmother, she lives a life filled with good friends and hard work. Wary of romance, Addie assumes no man will look beyond her glasses and her tendency to talk to her rescue donkey, Snickers—until the day she finds a note from a secret admirer. A prank, most likely. But then, a second note arrives . . .

YA romance
Revisado: 02-19-24
This was more of a bland young adult romance. The main characters were 19 and 20. Addie is not willful and does not have a life filled with friends as the description says. She’s a young woman left by her parents to be raised by her grandmother. For some reason, the kids her age ostracize her for this. Also, she’s treated as if she’s already a spinster (at the ripe old age of 19). I had a difficult time buying into this premise or the attraction between the main characters.

When a trip into the forest to collect a rare mushroom goes horribly wrong, I find myself falling through a fairy portal and straight into the arms of the Unseelie Fae prince. The dangerously unhinged and handsome Unseelie Fae prince. What could be more horrible than that? He thinks I'm an assassin sent by the humans to kill him, not a biologist. Determined to kill me first and rid himself of the human he has unwillingly grown obsessed with, yet also needing to entertain his people, the villain challenges me to three deadly trials.

Not a nice romance
Revisado: 02-15-24
I liked how the story began but it devolved into a paranormal type of Hunger Games. I did not enjoy the unhealthy relationship between Callie and the dark Fae. She seemed to overlook the fact that he murdered people at random and hurt her often. It was a weird obsessive relationship. I’m not continuing the series.

Historia
If I had to pick a bride of convenience, my first choice would not be Peach Maloney. My 50th choice would not be Peach. Top spot on my list of occupational hazards? Yes. Royal pain in the crumpets? Yes. A bride of convenience? No. But I've unexpectedly gone from royal bodyguard to monarch, having inherited a crown that was stolen from my family long before my birth. The kicker? In order to take the throne, I must find a wife. Have I mentioned Peach would not have been my 100th choice? But I've no other options, and she needs a favor that my new position can fulfill quite nicely.

More crude than funny
Revisado: 01-03-24
Not really funny or even interesting. Lots of bad writing with cliches and crudeness. I kept thinking it’d get better but nope. I skipped through the last chapters but found the story just continued to repeat the same cliches. I am not sure if it was the writing or the narrator, but the main female lead, Peach, seemed to constantly complain, swear or whine. It was irritating, to say the least.

Sweet but unoriginal holiday romance
Revisado: 01-02-24
The narration was great. The story was sweet but very slow and a bit boring. I would compare it to a Hallmark holiday movie: an unoriginal, slow story but sweet. I fast forwarded many parts to finish it.

A true love story
Revisado: 12-02-23
What a wonderful book! This is a romance in the truest sense of the word. The main characters are mature people. So many stories are about teenagers or people who act like teenagers. This story was definitely a step above. I enjoyed the first book but this one was even better!

Historia
Roland Vawdrey is used to the best. As the King's champion he sets all the maiden's hearts a-flutter. When it comes to picking out a wife, he knows exactly what he requires, perfection of face and form. Naturally, his choice falls on the fair Lenora. His dreams may be haunted by a stolen kiss with uptight Eden, but he's not about to throw himself away on some prim, paragon of virtue! Eden Montmayne prefers poets to knights, and would rather read a book than watch a joust. When a betrothal feast goes awry, there's a truly scandalous outcome for Eden and Roland.

Sweet and funny
Revisado: 10-14-23
I didn’t think Roland’s story would be as interesting as the others but it was great! The beginning is a bit frustrating in that the two main characters are oblivious to the cause of their wedding. However, as time goes on, their relationship grows and it’s fun to see how they come to understand and appreciate each other. Roland turns out to be more than just the typical alpha male. This book also has more humor in it, especially toward the end, which left me smiling at the conclusion. Well done!
