Historia
She wanted sanctuary... Helena Reynolds will do anything to escape her life in London, even if that means traveling to a remote cliffside estate on the North Devon coast and marrying a complete stranger. But Greyfriar's Abbey isn't the sort of refuge she imagined. And ex-army captain Justin Thornhill - though he may be tall, dark, and devastatingly handsome - is anything but a romantic hero. He needed redemption... Justin has spent the last two decades making his fortune, settling scores, and suffering a prolonged period of torture in an Indian prison.

What a Great Story
Revisado: 03-04-19
This story has quite a different plot than any other regency/Victorian book and I loved it. The story line was riveting and Justine Eyre's narration was second to none.

Historia
Hugh Philemon Ancaster, seventh Duke of Ripley, will never win prizes for virtue. But even he draws the line at running off with his best friend's bride. All he's trying to do is recapture the slightly inebriated Lady Olympia Hightower and return her to her intended bridegroom. For reasons that elude her, bookish, bespectacled Olympia is supposed to marry a gorgeous rake of a duke. The ton is flabbergasted. Her family's ecstatic. And Olympia? She's climbing out of a window, bent on a getaway.

Great Entertainment
Revisado: 10-10-18
This was the first book from Ms. Chase that I listened to. I was not disappointed. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard listening to a audio book. Olympia (the heroine of the story) kept me in stitches. So did Ripley (hero) and all the other characters in this book. OMG. The banter and situations in which Olympia and Ripley find themselves is so hilarious. Olympia decides she needs air prior to her marriage to a duke. She panics and drinks a little bit more brandy than she should and ends up on a merry chase through the outskirts of London.

I Usually Like Jo Beverley Books; however, , ,
Revisado: 06-26-18
As much as I love Jo Beverley books and I have a lot of them, I can't give this one a thumbs up. I felt that this story jumped all over and none of the characters were full developed or maybe too much. Can't quite pinpoint what the heck is going on. I wanted to slap Ariana's face and wring her neck. I thought she was judgmental and overbearing. And I couldn't believe all her anxieties were because Princess Charlotte died in childbirth. Please spare me. I felt so bad for the Earl of Kynaston. He got the bad end of the deal. She never let up on him. Even at the end. Sorry.

Another 5 star for Julia Quinn
Revisado: 08-26-17
I love Julia Quinn books and this one is no exception. Quite different from the Smythe-Smythe and other Brigerton sagas but connected. Nothing beats Rosalyn Landor as narrator. Love her voice. I wish all regency and Victorian romances were narrated by her. Great story - some sadness but overall a wonderful read.

Another Sarah MacLean hit
Revisado: 07-19-17
I always love Sara MacLean's books. And this one was not a disappointment. I love the bantering between Sophie and King. Sophie is so snarky. At times, I felt so sorry for Sophie as things are not what she wanted or remembered. But at the end, love prevails.

Not the Best Narrator, Good Story
Revisado: 07-19-17
I love Julia Quinn, but this is not the best. First, Lucy Rayner narration is not the best whereas I'm use to having Rosalyn Landor doing the narration. Her narration can be irritating at times. Second, the story is not bad but not her best. Emma, the main female character, is way to stubborn and is always arguing. She lets her temper get in the way and she takes too many risks.

What a Wonderful Book
Revisado: 07-19-17
Actually, this was my first book in the Survivors Club Series. I do have the others in my library but didn't realize it until now that this was the last book in that series. I am going back to listen to the rest. After listening to this book, I looking forward to the others. The book kept me interested throughout and was so entertaining. There were so many twists and turns. The ending was absolutely wonderful.

Another Wonderful Story by Ms. Balogh
Revisado: 06-28-17
I love Mary Balogh's novels. And they are better yet when narrated by Rosalyn Landor. I was a little confused in the beginning of the story with all the people involved and titles but finally got it. I loved how strong Anna, the heroine, was. How she refused to back down. Unlike other books I have read from other authors, she is not arrogant or acts silly or is stupid and does things one shouldn't and gets in trouble. There are reasons for her actions. She doesn't like frilly things as she is not accustom to them. There are a few surprises during the story, which are delightful. Definitely worth the credit.

Historia
Twice he has been close to the altar and still no duchess. Will the third time be the charm? A duke can't marry just anyone. His wife must be of good family, be fertile, and be young. Struggling playwright Sarah Pettijohn is absolutely the last woman Gavin Whitridge, Duke of Baynton, would ever fall in love with. However, there is something about her that stirs his blood, which makes her perfect for a bargain he has in mind: In exchange for backing her play, he wants Sarah to teach him about love.

Another Wonderful Cathy Maxwell Book
Revisado: 05-30-17
I haven't read/listened to a Cathy Maxwell book for some time now. I always loved her novels. Well, this book is another hit. As usual, the author brings all emotions into her story. Gavin and Sarah are both strong characters. They know what is expected of them; however, love prevails - as it should. This story is quite entertaining in itself and I was surprised by the ending. I loved it. Ms. Maxwell, please continue to give us wonderful stories.
