Historia
Unemployed at 29, Tess Monaghan is willing to take any freelance job to pay the rent—including a bit of unorthodox snooping for her rowing buddy, Darryl "Rock" Paxton. In a city where someone is murdered almost every day, attorney Michael Abramowitz's death should be just another statistic. But the slain lawyer's notoriety—and his noontime trysts with Rock's fiancée—make the case front page news...and point to Rock as the likely murderer. But trying to prove her friend's innocence could prove costly to Tess.

Historia
The year is 1921, and "Nobody" Alice James has just arrived in Oregon with a bullet wound, a lifetime's experience battling the New York Mafia, and 50,000 dollars in illicit cash. She befriends Max, a Black Pullman porter who reminds her achingly of home and who saves Alice by leading her to the Paragon Hotel. But her unlikely sanctuary turns out to be an all-Black hotel in a Jim Crow city, and its lodgers seem unduly terrified of a White woman on the premises. She understands their dread. The Ku Klux Klan has arrived in Portland in fearful numbers.

Wonderful inspirational Story
Revisado: 07-22-23
4 STARS
Wonderful inspirational Story about overcoming difficulties and faith. Many life's are entangled in this book and told from different perspectives. Unforgiving hard fathers, difficult upbringings, financial difficulties, illness, all masterful told and either overcome or put in a new light.
This is the story of a woman who grew up in less than ideal circumstances finding and making a home for herself and a drifter struggling to do the right thing. Also about a Woman inspiring to become a writer, back when things were much more difficult, who ends up alone after a terrible loss, and finds a new family.
Different timelines makes this a very interesting historical fiction.
I highly recommend.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Not my cup of tea ...
Revisado: 07-20-23
This might have been great 1813 - 2023 it's like watching grass grow. And I like historic fiction, with a meaningful story and some drama - not endless chit chat.
Jane Austen was a remarkable pioneer, but this is not my cup of tea.

Graphic Nature, Adult Movie Language and Content
Revisado: 07-19-23
There should be a warning before purchasing this book about the Graphic Nature and Adult Movie Language and Contend. In 52 years I have NEVER encountered such verbal filth. This is the reason for my 1 star rating - otherwise it would have been 3.5 stars.
This book needs some serious editing - it is very LONG. It took 8 chapters to get to the mystery. 7 chapters of divorce aftermath, romance, very graphical description and explicit words of intimacy (If this was on tv it would be beep - beep - beep). Also a lot of stereo types, the hostile ex wife, the cold alcoholic mother. Also body shaming throwing around the 'fat' word in the beginning of the book (1/3 in it stopped). Often not very realistic. The Mystery is shallow and stereo typical. The Bickering between Hixon and his x -wife was unbearable - arguing who did the dishes and who did the vacuuming and who did the oil change ... Really? NOBODY wants to hear that. Some parts are very predictable to cheesy, like x-boyfriend showing up, other things are over the top - restraining order against mom.
Most authors even if I don't like the book I will try another one. I will NEVER buy another book by this author. Unbelievable.

Overall recommended for light entertainment.
Revisado: 07-14-23
Light reading with a lot of humor and sarcasm.
The characters are a little over the top, but strangely enough still hard to distinguished. Like there were only 3 molds used for the characters, rather than each one being an individual. Definitely mystery and story line, and at one point it gets pretty sinister.

Revisado: 07-12-23
I LOVE Will Trent, but I did not love this.
This book is about 2 hours long ... which is about 1 1/2 hours too much. The first 90 minutes is a
p*ssing match. The LANGUAGE OMG. How about more story and LESS bad language?
Last 30 minutes actually had some substance. And $15 for a Fort Knox job ? How old is this book?
As I'm writing this it has a 4 star rating ... How? All the recent reviews are BAD.

It's a modern day fairy tale.
Revisado: 07-12-23
Girl turns Werewolf meets vet ... guess it's a modern day fairy tale.
Nora Roberts is a great writer. However she writes a lot. Seems she is recycling characters. Not sure if Elizabeth / Abigail from the witness was first or Simone from Wolf Moon - but they sounded very much alike.
The best virtues of this book were that it was short and it had a happy ending. OK read, but glad it wasn't longer.
