Historia
Ferrying tourists around Dublin for the Leprechaun Limo Service makes quite a change after years in the military. Still, Megan Malone is enjoying her life in Ireland. She likes the scenery, the easy pace, the quirky, quick-witted locals. Everything - except having one of her clients drop dead at the statue of fabled fishmonger, Molly Malone. Most restaurant critics notch up their share of enemies. Elizabeth Darr, however, was a well-loved international star. She and her husband, Simon, had just had dinner when Elizabeth collapsed, and spoiled seafood is the first suspect.

I’m sorry but I didn’t not care for the story. The even voice was so off putting I skipped over the majority of the story.

Historia
The knight was supposed to be a man. Not me, Sophie MacKnight, a marketing associate from California. This must be a practical joke that the Scots play on visiting Americans. Because otherwise I’ve inherited a haunted castle in Scotland, along with one irritatingly sexy Scotsman, who would be delighted if I turned tail and ran. Frankly, I thought I would fly here, sell the heap of bricks, and head back home to a life that I…well, I was comfortable with at the very least. Instead, the people of Loren Brae are in trouble, and it appears that as the new owner of the castle.

The story gets lost and buried under the porn
Revisado: 04-20-24
I tried listening to the book, but I was put off by the constant thinking of, acting on the thoughts and the description of the main characters carrying out those thoughts.. The story got lost as this book could be considered pornographic by the majority of readers.

This title was better than the others as its ending was not as much of a “Scooby Doo”.
All of the other books were totally “Scooby Doo” ending - story for x number of pages required and it’s a hurry up let’s revival who did what in 2-3 pages, story ends.

Horrible narrator
Revisado: 10-01-20
I was very disappointed in the choice of narrator. Her voices were almost the same for each character and some were terrible. She had some of the men sounding like whiny teenage girls! Very off putting.

Revisado: 11-19-19
I thought the story sounded cute and escapist, but I could not get past the poor, monotone narrator and then add the silly female character and her constant inner dialog about ogling the guy and it was just a recipe for a reading/listening fail.

Disappointed

I had to force myself to read as much as I did, then skipped to the end. The lead character spent over half of the book whining and analyzing herself. Sorry, this was not a good read/listen for me.

Ruby Bee has hardly preheated her oven when a naked man is found shot in her bedroom and the NYPD throws her in jail. Disappointed with the Scooby-Do ending.
Revisado: 05-17-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Maybe not. The story started out interesting but the ending was hurried up, gather all together and have a quick reveal without a good explanation of how the ending was reached. What I've heard others refer to as a "Scooby-Do ending".
Would you recommend Maggody in Manhattan to your friends? Why or why not?
I would not recommend this book as I don't think it was a good as others in the series.
What about Kristin Kalbli’s performance did you like?
I really like Kristin Kalbil's performance as the voice of the Maggoty series. I bought another Maggoty audible book read by C.J. Critt and I returned it as the narrator was so awful. Why the switch in narrators? Especially to one with a monotone. I cancelled all read by C.J. Critt from my list.
Was Maggody in Manhattan worth the listening time?
I don't think so. It was a bit confusing with all the changes of characters and locations. Especially, when they occurred with hardly a breath taken, sort of like a run-on sentence, and added nothing to the story.
Any additional comments?
I think it was a huge mistake the change narrators. Kristin Kalbil's performances in the books I've read in this series was well done and her different voices and accents made the stories.

Had to get past the narrator which was a struggle.
Revisado: 01-21-17
What did you love best about Fixin' to Die?
The story and the characters were interesting.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Fixin' to Die?
When Kenni realizes she is attracted to Finn Vincent.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator's voice was hard to listen to. The main character was suppose to be a woman about 26-27 years old, but the voice sounded like a 45-55 year old woman with a smoker's ruined voice.
Any additional comments?
It was a bit irritating how long Kenni took and her inner dialogue, which seemed chapters long, before realizing her Poppa was "real".
