Interesting book, I enjoyed it
Revisado: 09-08-24
This is an interesting book. At times I felt like it was written only to promote the Spartan races. But I could relate to some of the stories of athletes in the book because I was in similar situations once.
I recommend this book for everyone who's thinking about building mental strength though physical challenges.

Screens are everywhere. Kids spend an average of seven and a half hours on digital devices every day, not including when they're in school. The impacts of this are profound, and yet cutting screen time can seem impossible in today's world.

Revisado: 08-25-24
For a long time I was struggling with the idea that I should not allow my 3 years old access to screens. I've built a career in software development and I understand the danger that screens poses to your brains, but then everyone around me told me I was nuts.
This book was a great read and a reminder that this is a fight worth fighting.
I definitely recommend this book to every parent out there.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Not recommended - politics where there should not be any
Revisado: 12-10-23
The story was ok but I simply do not appreciate the politics being involved.
In a world where confused teenagers are struggling with their identity we do not need stories that reinforce this confusion.
I do not recommend.

Historia
Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money - the carrot-and-stick approach. That's a mistake, says Daniel H. Pink (author of To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Motivating Others). In this provocative and persuasive new book, he asserts that the secret to high performance and satisfaction - at work, at school, and at home - is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world.

Revisado: 04-05-23
I was pleasantly surprised about the idea of motivation operating system.
The author explains the new insights into human motivation, presenting the difference between what science knows about motivation and what business does.
Also you can learn about how you can tap into the human desire for autonomy and purpose to transform how you live and work.
An amazing book, I recommend it.

Even the smartest among us can feel inept as we fail to figure out which light switch or oven burner to turn on, or whether to push, pull, or slide a door. The fault, argues this ingenious - even liberating - audiobook, lies not in ourselves, but in product design that ignores the needs of users and the principles of cognitive psychology. The Design of Everyday Things shows that good, usable design is possible. The rules are simple: make things visible, exploit natural relationships that couple function and control, and make intelligent use of constraints.

I had so much fun listening to this book.
Design is fascinating and I think the more you learn about how people came up with the solution to a problem, the more you can understand how the world around us work.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who want to understand how some of the everyday things were designed and why.

A very interesting perspective on parenting
Revisado: 03-24-23
This was one of the most interesting parenting books I have read so far. I love the concepts described in this book.
Reading this book I realized how important is for kids to spend time outside, to explore and discover. As a dad, I started to apply concepts from the book right away and my little one had a blast.
We are now spending time outside exploring everyday, no matter how the weather is.
I totally recommend the book.

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

I loved it
Revisado: 02-28-23
I simply love this book. I love how David tried and tried again and again inspite of failing over and over. To some degree, I could find myself in this story as well.
Following a similar mentality I also broke my limits multiple times in my life, going from obese and with bleeding holes in my lungs to become an ironman triathlete, and completing extreme ironman races and ultras.
I recommend it to everyone looking to make the best with what they are given.

In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

One of the best books on self motivation I've read
Revisado: 02-20-23
I found myself in this book, on so many levels. I can relate to the pain and struggle you feel when you're running an ultra or race in any endurance events, or when life punches you in the face.
I love the way Goggins approaches the challenges, with courage and grit.
This is one of those books that you have to read at least once a year. I totally recommend it.

Interesting but felt like a sales pitch
Revisado: 02-17-23
I was looking forward to listening to this book. The performance is on spot.
However, even if the information is interesting, it is very high level at some parts, without follow-up or more in depth applicable information. I can understand why, because the author is pitching his agency and marketing services throughout the whole book.
I would recommend this book only to entrepreneurs looking to outsource their marketing and business work.
