Historia
Today in the West, many consider the church to be dead or dying. Christianity is seen as outdated, bigoted, and responsible for many of society’s problems. This leaves many believers embarrassed about their faith and many outsiders wary of religion. But what if the Christian message is not the enemy of our modern Western values, but the very thing that makes sense of them? In this fascinating book, Glen Scrivener takes listeners on a journey to discover how the teachings of Jesus not only turned the ancient world upside down, but continue to underpin the way we think.

Most relationship problems are essentially trust issues, explains psychotherapist David Richo. Whether it's fear of commitment, insecurity, jealousy, or a tendency to be controlling, the real obstacle is a fundamental lack of trust - both in ourselves and in our partner. Daring to Trust offers key insights and practical exercises for exploring and addressing our trust issues in relationships.

Historia
C. S. Lewis's dazzling allegory about Heaven and Hell - and the chasm fixed between them - is one of his most brilliantly imaginative tales, where we discover that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside. In a dream, the narrator boards a bus on a drizzly afternoon in Hell and embarks on an incredible voyage to Heaven. Anyone in Hell is invited on board, and anyone may remain in Heaven if he or she so chooses. But do we really want to live in Heaven?

Transformative writing
Revisado: 02-08-21
Having read the Bible through, this book describes eloquently things I am only guessing at, delving me even further into yet more mystery. Truly, love that is truly love, and life that is truly life has all the ontological weight. Who can take it down?
The narrator was possibly the best I have ever heard.

Let women be women and men be men
Revisado: 11-27-20
Although this female narrator did a superb reading, I longed to hear men read the men's words. Similarly, another book I am listening to has a male narrator and I long to hear actual women reading the women's words. In both cases it becomes all too obvious that neither of us has unlocked the mystery of the other and that we are therefore much better at expressing our own gender in all it's magnificence.

Worth Hearing More than Once
Revisado: 07-02-19
This book is right up there with Dallas Willard's book, Life Without Lack on the 23rd Psalm. The chaos of life is nothing knew, nor having our very existence threatened, but, as both Jeremiah and the Psalmist made clear, God in His mercy has chosen us for His protection. He longs that we be in relationship with Him even though we made a mess of things. He has made a way.
