Historia
Six months after a life-changing accident, Carys is looking for a fresh start. Feeling restless, she jumps when she is offered the chance to run The Red Cat Café, an eccentric neighbourhood eatery in the centre of Paris, over the busy festive period. Mathieu needs a change of pace. Stuck in a job he hates, the only time Mat feels truly in control is when he posts scathing anonymous restaurant reviews on his blog, Madame Incognito. When a chance encounter leads the two to meet, their connection is instant, and it seems like everything might fall into place.

Another great narration and story
Revisado: 12-23-24
I love listening to Sophie Claire at Christmas. And I absolutely love listening to Karen Cass. A little heavy on the anxiety from deceit but I felt it. So, good writing with relating to the characters and all that. Highly recommend.

Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë"s Gothic classic is an early exploration of women"s independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

Outstanding Narration
Revisado: 12-29-22
I could never read Jane Eyre in high school. I always chose another option. But finally, Jane Eyre caught up with me. The narration alone made this book readable. I couldn’t have gotten through it otherwise. I think I would’ve done so much better in AP Literature had audiobooks been available then. If your child has this book for required reading and is struggling to get through it, I highly recommend picking this up. Couldn’t stop listening because the narrator is amazing. The story line I could care less for.

Another one for the annual list
Revisado: 12-17-22
Loved this book. The main character was sweet and thoughtful, usually cognizant of different things at the same time. It played out at a nice pace. Nothing was overly dramatic or felt like a stretch of the imagination. One unique thing I particularly liked was how she ran into her ex—because how many times does going home for the holidays, vacation, or what have you, realistically involve running into an ex. And part of you might be hoping or wondering if they’ve changed or something. Only to conclude the same thing she concludes. Subtle reminder of the holidays. Overall really good read/listen. Highly recommend.

Added to List of Christmas Must-Listens
Revisado: 12-14-22
I love this novel. It’s a perfect Christmas time read. It has all the elements built into it without being overly dramatic in any one area. It’s warm, full of good friendship and family, love, compassion, empathy, and all the sights and sounds of the holidays. And it’s all the holidays at the end of the year, not just Christmas. It’s perfect. I’ll be listening to this one annually for sure. I love it so much I could repeat it now that I’ve just finished it. Highly recommend!

Too many characters and a love story from a mile away
Revisado: 12-11-22
It was difficult for me to get through the first chapter…or two. There was too much going on and too many characters to keep up with. Someone works for someone and so and so is the daughter or father or this person or other. Omg. It’s written out as though we’re watching a movie and able to keep up. After that, the love story that unfolds isn’t original. You can see it coming at you plain as day from a mile away. It’s ends nicely, tightly wrapped in the Christmas theme. But it was unnecessary drama watching the love story unfold.

One of the best Christmas reads
Revisado: 12-09-21
How does this novel not have more reviews? I’m not even sure how I stumbled upon it. This is a beautiful story, with equally beautiful narration. It feels like The Holiday and Love Actually meet an unknown bestseller. It’s not extra or overly dramatic. Just a really nice read. So please give this novel a listen, settle in with some good hot cider or creamy coffee, start the fire, and listen, then give it a review. I may have to listen to this book every year going forward.

Historia
When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

Heated Tone Not So Christmasy
Revisado: 12-05-21
I liked this story very much. But I couldn’t figure out if it was the narrator’s tone or the tone of the book and character that sounded heated, crazy at times, bizarre, and extra. Always extra. The protagonist was so extra.
That aside, the story unfolds beautifully. It doesn’t ring the Christmas theme throughout the novel though. So it’s not a true Christmas novel in that sense.

Historia
Kate Potter used to love Christmas. A few years ago, she would have been wrapping her presents in September and baking mince pies on Halloween, counting down the days and hours to Christmas. But that was before Kate’s husband left for the army and never came home. Now she can hardly stand December at all. Kate can’t deny she’s lonely, yet she doesn’t think she’s ready for romance. She knows that her son, Jack, needs a Christmas to remember - just like Kate needs a miracle to help her finally move forward with her life. So she’s decided she’ll have to make her own miracle.

Christmas List Must Read
Revisado: 11-30-21
This was quite a pleasant first read for this Christmas season. It was almost too much Christmas miracle for me having to wait out the agonizing 25 days until Christmas…as the problems continually piled on. I loved the mother-son relationship that went on throughout the story. Oh the sacrifices that we mothers must make. But I wasn’t a big fan of the constant cost counting. That aside, this is a beautifully read and narrated story.

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

Beautiful Imagery and Beautifully Written
Revisado: 11-15-21
This novel was beautifully written but hard to start. I had to restart it several times before moving forward. That being said, the imagery is lovely. It was a gorgeous listen. Heart-warming and not over dramatized. Nothing was over the top. Just another pleasant piece of WWII historical fiction.
