Unbelievable writing. Perfect for Ballerini’s voice. The characters and the story become real. The plot is endless…just when you think it’s ending, something shifts. Over 12 hours and I was crushed when it ended!

So ridiculous: the plot, the characters (you will find yourself saying “WTF is she or he thinking from the first page through the last), the inane coincidences (seriously, HE is her therapist?). I only gave it two stars because, somehow, I finished it (I think because the readers were pretty good…don’t know how they made it through without laughing). Not to mention, the worst part: it is BORING.

Loved the author’s other novel. Downloaded this one immediately. Hated the narrator. Keeps making off, overly dramatic pauses in the middle of sentences, her voice going up for no reason. I almost couldn’t finish it. The story did not seem as good as The Perfect Stranger but don’t know if it was because of the narrator.

This is one of the best books I’ve listened to in a while. Funny but deep. Startling, really. It will take your breath away. And Eduardo Ballerini was the perfect choice to read it. I didn’t want it to end. I could not stop listening. Wow.

This isn’t even the kind of audiobook I gravitate to. However, from the first few paragraphs, I was mesmerized. The story, the writing, the characters…and the narration. Perfect. It will stay with me.

The writing was good, of course. Noah Hawley is a good writer. But it went on and on, seemingly going over the same material. There was very little discovery after the first third of the novel. The ending was ultimately disappointing. What was the message here? Don’t get divorced?

Amazing writing. This is really a nuanced horror story of things gone incredibly wrong in several neighbor’s life. You gasp, and yet the author makes it all seem plausible. The narrator is excellent as well. Bravo.
